Is the military lacking people?

Is the number of recruits per year declining? Do we need more people to join?

Depends on what branch of service you're looking at. I just got out. The budget was was really bad. Too many people.

Every active duty branch of the military is exceeding recruiting goals and has been for years.

The Army is actually over their goal right now, that's why bonuses are getting smaller and smaller.

All military branches are exceeding there recruitment goals due to the economy.

People are seeing the military as a steady job to take care of there family instead of a one way ticket to war.

Actually the standard for entry to each branch is getting higher.

I know the Army has raised the ASVAB test standard for enlistment for people with GED's, more and more medical and moral waivers for entry are being denied.

Recruiters are turning away felons. A lot of prior service personnel are being turned away for re-entry.

Congressional funding cut-backs have forced military branches to do force reductions. As such, the Navy, Air Force, and Marines have reduced their numbers and become more restrictive in their recruiting standards. The Army, however, was having difficulty meeting their recruiting goals so they actually lowered their standards of acceptance. Currently, the US military is meeting their recruitment goals but the overall force strength is still below what many commanders want based on fighting in two theaters and deployed in non-combat roles all over the globe.

Well, they have reduced their requirements for enlistment. They now accept first time felons and people with asthma. Our military is at an all time low for recruitment. People do not want to enlist. Patriotism is a thing of the past. Look back to WWII where young men would lie about their age to go fight for their country. The last eight years have had a profound impact and peoples willingness to fight for their country and this makes me very sad. I hope and pray by the grace of God almighty we can restore America back to a country og honor and nobility and acceptance.
