the stratgey behind the surge only works for as long as you keep tons of troops there and it seems to me the Iraqis are pretty bad at keeping their country safe now that we've given them more responsibility...violence has been way up this month

No, and there is no occupation of Iraq. You'll remember that just yesterday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (or is she Rodham this week?) felt compelled to reassure Iraqi officials that the US would not abandon them. If the Iraqi government wants us there, it is not an occupation. |

My personal opinion..........NO is was a success, and NO Saddam did horrendous things to Iraq's people. They now do have the democratic process of being able to VOTE. That in my mind is huge progress. |
