No, the T-90 is not meant to fight tanks like the Abrams, it would be suicide.
The T-90 is meant to be a bullet stopper, that is, its meant to be used in large numbers to overcome a superior enemy. Its armor is built to withstand common weapons, but the US arms its troops with extremely good weapons that would make easy work of a T-90.
The Idea is that nobody but the US has large numbers of these weapons, so it can still overcome every other country on earth. Thats still pretty good, and it sure saves millions of dollars per tank.
Now that Ive said that, the gun on the T-90 is the same as that on the T-72, which we know cannot destroy an Abrams.
The gun is good enough to take out just about every other tank it is likely to come across. Out of the hundreds of thousands of tanks worldwide, the T-90 can defeat over 95 percent of them. That is more than acceptable.
When it comes down to other features, besides pure performance, the T-90 is very poor compared to the Abrams, but its still one of the best besides the Abrams. The crew is very cramped and the ride is terrible. Its really an exhausting vehicle to operate. Its still better than those 95 percent of other tanks.
Its just not meant to compare, its excellent at what its meant to do, its not excellent at what the Abrams is supposed to do. |
