Is there a way to sign up for the ASVAB without going through the recruiting station?

Is there a way to sign up for the ASVAB without going through the recruiting station? I am planning on joining the military but I have weight to lose first so I don't really want to go through a recruiter yet. So does anyone know if it is possible to take the ASVAB without going to a recruiter and if you do where and how?

There is a practice Asvab on the web that is pretty accurate and takes about four hours to complete.

No, you have to take the ASVAB at the MEPS center, which is military-run. Lose the weight first and then seriously consider joining.

yuor recruiter is here to help you get in the best shape before you leave.. the recruiter will help you learn everything, not laugh at you cuz your weight.....the recruiter allows you to even go to MEPS, allows you to take the ASVAB...with no recruiter, none of that is possible..

My recruiter told me that he sometimes took people to a local high school to take the ASVAB. However, he also said that the main purpose for taking it there was for people who were on the border of passing or failing, because I wanted to take mine there and he told me I couldn't because I did too well.
