Is there any benefit for the deceased of a parent of U.S military member?

My Dad just past away last month. I am in the US military. He is not my military dependent even though I have tried to apply for them. I am a US citizen but he is not a US citizen nor a Permanent Resident. My trip back home (Indonesia) cost a lot of money.
I have been Airman and Family Readiness center on base. They have talk to me about AFA loan and had not been resolved.
I am wondering is there any benefit that I can claim that I don't know of?
If there is. how do I go about claiming the benefit or assistant?

I am so sorry for your loss.

When my sister died while I was active duty, I went to the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society for a loan to help with burial expenses. They gave me a no interest loan.

You must have a relief society for the Air Force. You may get a non interest or low interest loan. You may also try the American Red Cross. Sometimes they offer loans to service men and women.

Also ask the airlines if they have bereavement fairs. Sometimes airlines will give you a reduced fair and or a military discount.

Unless he had insurance, there is not a lot of other options. You might ask your chaplain if there are any service charities in your location who might assist you. Sometimes Chaplains know about things that local charities and churches offer.

There will not be a benefit by the US military for you to claim. Unless he had life insurance or had it set up in his will that you will inherit something there is nothing that you can do but pay for the loan that funded the ticket home.

there is nothing. all costs associated with getting to your father's funeral are on you.

Only the AFA loan if approved. and that of course has to be aid back within a year.
