Is there any way of getting out of a ARMY stop loss when you have PTSD?

My husband served 2 years national guard and 4 1/2 years active duty. He was supposed to be getting out in June of 2009(this year). After returning this past June from a 15month tour in Iraq, his brigade was alerted in Feb. of another deployment to Iraq this fall. They have said "stop loss' but no orders have been officially published or handed out. The soldiers who were in the process of ETSing were told to quit outprocessing. My husband is suffering from PTSD(not diagnosed yet, but in the works). Is there any possible way to get around the army stop loss and be able to get out? Isn't the stipulation of the army stop loss, if you are within 90 days of the deployment they can stop loss you, but if your further out*such as my husband* how can they keep him??

It sounds like they are jumping the gun on stop loss and doing it unofficially. If he is being processed for PTSD, that COULD keep him from deploying even if there are stop loss orders.

He is probably better off to stay in and get treated than try to rush to get out.

I would advise your husband to go see his Shrink. Speak to him or her about getting a profile written if had had already not done so this should prevent him from deploying if written well enough!

OK here is the way to get out of the army with an honorable discharge.

1. fail PT test.
2. Get a bar to reenlistment.
3. Chapter 15 voluntary administrative discharge, Failure to overcome a bar to reenlistment.

and that's it. You get out with a honorable discharge.
