Is there anyone who trained at the DLI in Monterrey?

I'm interested in a little bit of information on housing.

As my tech school will be lasting longer than six months, my spouse will be processing to tech with me. Will I be able to get on-base housing, or will I receive BAH to find off-base housing?

After the training in Monterrey I know there's about four months in Texas to practice what I've learned. Will my spouse be able to process with me there as well?
Additional Details
I understand long seperations are normal for the military. However, with my tech school being within the contiguous 48 states, and lasting longer than 6 months, my orders include my spouse. I'm just looking for some information about whether or not I'll be able to find housing or if I should start looking off-base.

Im not to familiar with how DLI works in general but i have lived in monterey my whole life. there is tons of housing on Fort Ord but the crappy cell service is correct and it is kinda in the middle of nowhere. BAH should be pretty good considering the the cost of living out there is pretty expensive. Possible cities that you might want to look are are Marina which is practially connected to Fort Ord, some parts of Seaside(there are some sections of it that are less then friendly but you can tell by the look of them, Del Rey Oaks is nice and then id also look in monterey itself there are always lots od nice hidden houses and apartments you just have to look for them best bet would be to contact the Monterey Hearld online maybe its the major newspaper out there and information on houses and such are alsways available. You will have the option of living at Fort Ord or receiving BAH for your own housing. I do not recommend living at Fort Ord. It's in the middle of nowhere, there's horrible cell phone reception regardless of your company, and the only internet you can get is crappy Verizon. Also, it's kinda far, and contrary to what mrsjvb says, there are plenty of great places to live near base. Check out Pacific Grove.

I do not believe your spouse will be able to accompany you to Texas.

I have several colleagues who teach at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey.

Unfortunately I am not familiar with on base housing. However there is a very good supply of rental property in the area off base.

there is TONS of available on base housing at Ft Ord. with reason. That's all I will say except that we had nothing but problems with the housing office. Off base housing is hard to come by, expensive and mostly NOT in nice areas. (Salinas= Gangland Central)

as for TX.. probably not. generally speaking you must be there at least 20-26 weeks depending on Branch before you get accompanied orders. Navy definitely does NOT allow spouses to go to TX( what few CTIs actually go there anymore that is).
