Is there favortism in my JROTC battalion?
Find answers to your legal question.

Is there favortism in my JROTC battalion?

do you think that this is fair. My friend is a LET 2 and will be a LET 3 next year. Currently i am the logistics officer and he is the adjuants officer. He will become the CSM next year. He has Automatically been named color gaurd commander (i understand CSM) but also the drill team commander, armed exhibition commander and the 1SG for camp...is this really fair to every other staff member?

Hey, I know this is super huge to you now, but in the big picture, its not. Real military doesnt care what you did in JROTC, as long as you did the years required to give you higher rank. To give you perspective, I spent 3 years as a Cadet Corporal.

Now, because the year is closing out, talk to the departing CSM or a high ranking LET 4, since they're leaving and may not (or should not) give a care about JROTC politics anymore.

The way you put it, it does seem like favoritism. I am not going to lie, the whole damned program is run by favoritism (so does the world.) While it does seem to be unfair, what did you do to deserve the promotion? So what if you are a year older than him/her, if you do less for the battalion than obviously you aren't going to get it. I feel your pain though. I am going to be the Assistant S-4 (logistics) even though I did all of the work in that damned cage this past year. I spent my summer working on those uniforms while the S-4 sat his fat A** at home and I didn't get so much as a thank you (FYI at the same time I was starting to learn to do color guard and I was not even considered for the position...)

It probably is favoritism.......You just got a taste of real life.....

I once saved a little girls life......never got any recognition except the tearful thanks of the mother,..... my Buddy spent three hours teaching four people how to turn a color guard and got a Bronze Star

On another occasion I helped save a soldiers life and got an MSM for what I consider to be nothing but my job....??

You will often find life is unfair.....or more accurately "people" are unfair.....get over it..... you do the best you can and let the chips fall where they may........

Lets see what you can do.....If you go to the PMS or the NCOIC......the chances are they will support their previous decision and brand you a spoiled cadet..... you really have no viable recourse

This will happen to you more than once in this life.....learn to deal with it

It's high school. What do you expect?

Or just hey you!
You might want to get use to this if your joining the military because you will come across some NCO's and say to yourself how in the living Heck, are these people wearing this rank!

Bored,
Is it unfair? Is your friend good at what he does, and have the trust of the JROTC leadership? If so what are you doing to prove that you are worthy of those positions? You can't fix him you can only fix you. Congratulate him and work your butt off to get those jobs if that's what you are wanting. If you think you have, ask the leadership what you need to do in order to get them. Maybe you weren't as good as you thought...

Best of luck

Newsflash, jrotc means nothing. It doesn't matter either way.

beckyismyname
our njrotc cdr is a pervert. he is rediculous. we have not one single hard working cadet as an officer. they are all spanish girls with nice butts who do not deserve shit. its sad when 98% of your staff officers can even march the unarmed card.
