Is this how those oppose the war really feel?

So often you hear about people who oppose the war, but unlike the Vietnam era, they say they still support the troops.
My co worker's son died a few years ago in Iraq and my husband is getting set to activate and go there a third time. My boss, who I've worked for 8 years, told me that my coworker's son deserved to die, and that I should expect it if my husband does also. Its one thing to think like that, but another to say it to someone whose husband leaves in a week for training, and who has known a few who have died there, including my coworker's son.
The last time my husband went I put in for a vacation day to spend one last day with my him and my boss said he needed me for a few hours. He gave me ridiculous little tasks until finally said I had to leave. I'm giving my 2 wks. notice today, but am curious is this way of thinking normal to those who oppose the war? If you don't agree with the war that's fine, but wishing death upon our troops?

God, I hope not. I oppose the war but want our soldiers back home safely. Your boss is a 'donkey'.

This is, unfortunately, the reality behind liberal madness. For a party who tries to preach tolerance, I hear a lot of hate being spewed from their mouths on a daily basis. It disgusts me.

Some people have no sense. You don't want to work for an idiot like that either. I'm glad you're getting out of there.

Wow that guy is a little extreme and if im sure if i ran into him on the streets and he said some stupid sh*t like that i would see how my combat boot fits in his @ss since he is too much of a p*ssy to wear em on his feet. a lot of people that oppose the war do so for different reasons and most of them still support the troops, granted there are those few idiots that dont but you cant fix stupid like they say... we didnt choose to be there but you know what we signed a contract to protect our country and we are living up to it so that dumb@sses like that guy can have the freedom to stay moronic things

He has proven it three times already.

Opposing something that in the worlds politics and realities is taking money, time and our precious citizens (military) from us is one thing but not respecting the very ones who make your ability to complain, live, protest and live the American lifestyle of freedom is just plain idiocy. NO-I don't think most people who oppose the war think that way. Just as I think the guys and gals fighting over there don't go over to "kill people"and blow things up--they go to support their fellows, their country and their belief in freedom. Good luck to you-by the way-I would respectfully have a moment with my boss on your last day and quietly tell him what a crass moron he is. Tell your husband-I hope he's home soon, many of us think of the troops with blessings everyday we read the news. Good luck to you and your family-tell him THANK YOU! from wife of an ex-marine-who also fled a revolution in Africa and waited (legally) his 7 years in Canada to get in-and whose brother died for our country as a Special Forces Marine-We get it!

No, I oppose the war but don't want anyone to die. I feel bad for those that are fighting for what they believe, but are being misled by their commander-in-chief. I'm glad you are leaving that job, and I would probably break my own rule about always taking the high road when leaving a job and tell him to **** off on the way out the door.

Hi, honey...I'm so sorry that happened to you. I would dare your boss to say that to an military person's face. To answer your question, no, how your ex-boss feels is not how the majority of us opposed to the war feel AT ALL. Any decent person who is opposed to this war probably holds most or all of the following opinions: 1.) Your husband and all soldiers are too noble to have fight for a war that is, at best, questionable, and is, at worst, a treasonous lie spread for oil money, 2.) the war is costing too big a toll in American lives, period, 3.) the soldiers and their families aren't receiving nearly enough compensation for their jobs, as opposed to the contractors in the Middle East, who rack up hundreds of thousands in un-taxed dollars, 4.) the war is driving the price of gas, groceries, and day-to-day living sky-high here at home, and 5.) our reputation in the world is butchered, and our men and women are coming home broken, and it's destroying families. Your husband is too good to do this, and as a volunteer in the greatest Army in the world, he and thousands more like him deserve better.

Jerry H, you can turn in your citizenship and get the eff out of this country. You are one of those people who needs to live in a third world country to see how life really is.

As for your boss, I am glad you are quitting, definitely disturb the office, I would. I have lost some close friends in Iraq and am now partially deaf in one ear and am recovering from knee issues due to an IED attack. I myself am opposed to our operations, yet I am still a soldier and do my duty, but I would definitely flip some desks at work or something.

No, those of us who oppose the war DO support the troops. Myself, and all of my anti-war friends oppose the war in Iraq BECAUSE we support the troops. I don't want to see my friends and family, or your friends and family die ,in a war that shouldn't have been fought. By the way, most of us who oppose the Iraq War, support the war in Afghanistan. It's not all war we're against, just this one.

It isnt really a case of wishing death on anyone, its just a fact that if you sign up to the army/navy/etc you should expect that one day you may have to die, that is the whole point of the armed forces, to die in order to protect. While I think it is extremely sad that people have to loose their lives and loved ones have to suffer just because the government are so pig headed I still have to agree with your boss, anyone who joins the army and gets deployed to a war zone should expect not to come back and if they do make it back then its a bonus for everyone.

I wish your husband luck in the war and may he return home alive x

Jerry H
I don't wish death on anyone. But I agree with your boss. If they choose to continue to do the bidding of Bush even though the war was and remains unjustified (ie. caused by the lies of Washington) then they deserve to die for letting a people suffer unjustifiably. It doesn't make sense supporting the troops when I oppose what they are doing.
