When I read some of your answers here I have to laugh but I do not wonder why we consider ourselves the best in the world..
Pride runs deep and only a Marine can feel it and a Marine would never bother trying to explain it to anyone because they simply would not understand..
Once a Marine always a Marine..Nice comments about the Marines folks..keep em coming..Its the proof that envy does exist..
When I got home from boot camp my friend from high school had also arrived at home but he came from AF basic..He shook my hand and thanked me and wanted to hear all about it..He was man enough to admit to me that he was afraid to try out for the Marines..He was not like many who simply say "I could of joined the Marines but I didnt want to" Yeah right..If everyone could be a Marine than we wouldnt be Marines..I respect people who admit their true feelings and not those who continue to bash on something they know nothing about.. |

I was in the Air Force and I have to say that I don't envy any of the other branches. I was perfectly content with being in the chair force. lol |

I have a brother in the Marines and he has told me that the Marines get somewhat jealous about the new cool things the other services get. Thats about it though. As pride is conserned, the Marines envy none. If there is something the other services envy that would be the Marines dress blues. |

No they really don't. At least no Army guys I know envy them. In fact I know several marines that have switched over to Army. The reality is they pick the branch that fits them the best.
lol..angel pretty much sumed it up for what many Army guys think..but I wasn't going to say it.
p.s. I would mix up respect for envy. While my husband has a ton of respect for the Marines he has worked with he definitely does not envy them. |

Yes.
The Marine Corps training all stems around the fact that the marines primary job is an amphibious assault force meaning that their job is to storm a defended beach and create a bridgehead and hold it. |

They don't but they should, the army just makes up crap about how much smarter they are than the marines to make themselves feel better. who needs to know how to count and read anyway? Oh and the marines do operate f/a-18s which i would choose in a dogfight over an f-15 or f-16 any day. |

As a Marine, I can't explain it. It does seem that way. When anyone does suggest that the other services have Marine Envy, they get all upset and deny everything. Just look at all of the other comments. |

No. Marines are really, really weird, just like the Navy. I don't want to go ship crazy.
It's not something I'd be envious of. |

marines are the worst treated military personnell, in Iraq they had to drive in HMV's that had no air conditioning and live in tents with their stuff covered in dust, so they were constantly cleaning their weapons so they would work, and breathing in all that sand and dust and dirt every day, while the rest of the forces worked and lived in air conditioning. One army soldier riding with a marine had to tell the marine to turn off the heater so the army dude would not over ehat in the desert, the marine said th epurpose of having the heater on was so the HMV would not overheat, but the army dude was like, "your more important thent he vehical, so I order you to turn the heater off, there are more HMV's back at the motorpool, TURN THE HEATER OFF!" |

It's ironic.
Everyone envys the Marines, but the Marines envy the Coast Guard. |

Someone driving an F-15 wouldn't envy anyone in the Marines - or any other branch for that matter. |

hell no Marines are just full of themselves and I'm in the Army, and that's the bettER branch to go into as they teach you a lot more. Just because the marines run more does NOT mean they are better-it's all on how much you know and how well you apply it, theres no way any other branch would envy the marines! |
|

actually the Marines are seen as the least sophisticated and least educated..the branch where all the "expendable" soldiers are. |

Why anybody here would choose to envy anything is beyond me. I envy those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in any branch...however I will say the Marine Corps is in constant bombardment in politics and a jealous Army. I do my research and I live the experience first hand, and I realize that just isn't enough to prove anything. So I'll let you do you're research and find several quotes written and published by Commanding Generals of the U.S Army and top military commanders of the U.S Navy directed to the the U.S Marines. I'll leave you with one of SEVERAL..--Only two people truely understand Marines...thats the Marines and the Enemy, everybody else has a second hand opinion. Google that and find out who wrote it. You'll find several more we as Marines never had a say in. |
