You are a bit off (I believe), it was not Al Qaeda that we trained it was the Taliban only and Osam Bin Laden. OBL started Al Qaeda after Russia invaded Afghanistan and then used weapons that we provided against us.

I don't see assisting other countries being free as terrorism but when they take the resources we supplied against us then it is terrorism

The tactics you describe are only terrorism when used against you, when you use them it's called protecting national interests. Totally hypocritical but that's the way the USA works.

Yes the government of the USA is a terrorist organization always has been always will be. Remember the genocide of the native north americans? The USA was created through terrorism.

is it called terrorism only when it is against us, or is there a definition to terrorism, you say. well, there is a definition of terrorism, but to be honest, the way i see things in news, read them in newpapers, the net, ur definition of terrorism seems one sided. if you're against America, ur a terrorist. see, where are iraq's weapons of mass destruction, huh?

There is no true definition. We use the term terrorism to justify military actions against nations who are deemed too different than us.

we indeed trained and armed Al-Queda, we tried to use them in Lybia against Mommar. Iran Contra is indeed the same thing since our government has seen fit to label their military a terrorist organization.
Heres the real definition of a terrorist:
Any human being that opposes US resource hegemony world wide!! Additionally any adult males killed during military operations were for certain beyond doubt all terrorists. Likely with time we will be able to label the women and children killed in Iraq correctly as terrorists. Its just not the current convention to label them terrorists but as the demonization of an entire religion continues we may enjoy improved body counts over time.

We did all that to defeat Russia in Afghanistan. We were not protecting our own country, but fighting the Cold War, hoping to bring down the Soviet Union, which it ultimately did.

Then, the troops we trained in Afghanistan turned against us, under the leadership of bin Laden. They used the techniques we had taught them and the weapons we had given them.

There was a similar situation with Saddam. We gave him chemical weapons when we were his ally during the War with Iran. Those same chemicals were used by Saddam to destroy entire villages of the Kurds.

Yes, we are as guilty of wreaking terror as the "terrorists," because our own secret agents, our CIA, has used Assassination and other terror techniques to further American goals. Most Americans have been unaware of these terror techniques, but with the Bush Administration, terror has been honed to a skill. With torture, with renditions, with harsh and punitive laws that give political authorities enormous powers over citizens, we are not much different than other, less civilized countries.

I think it is time our citizens stop thinking of our country in terms of "Apple Pie, Mother Love and Wave the Flag" patriotism, and start seeking ways to improve our foreign relations, strengthen and build the United Nations, and work toward a world where peace and equality reigns.

If the definition of terrorism is to create terror, all warriors are terrorist. If the definition is to terrorize civilians, all warriors are terrorist. If the definition is those who terrorize your civilians, then the terrorist are those against you. Take your pick.

How about including more recent events? The U.S. armed the Kurds in northern Iraq and freed them from Saddam (tried to use them to overthrow him) and now those same Kurds are carrying out terrorist attacks in Turkey with the hope of carving out a section of Turkey to go along with the section of Iraq the U.S. handed them.

The U.S.sponsors terrorist activities when it suits them. They preach democracy, but will overthrow a democratically elected government that opposes them or refuses to bow down to U.S businesses. It is hypocisy of the worst kind and some day we the people will pay for allowing it to go on for so long.

We didn't arm them as terrorist, and harbor them as terrorist. The Communist were invading these Muslim countries and the US supplied them with weapons/training to fight back against the Soviets. We didn't give them propaganda and send them to kill innocent civilians.

Radical Islamist groups or nations who vow the destruction of our allies, like Israel, or vow the destruction of the United States are branded as terrorists. They are designated such not just by the USA, but by the UN and dozens of other organizations around the globe.

Allegiances, national intent, and other factors go into decisions whether or not to support a particular group or nation. At the time the USA supported the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan, the Soviet Union was our enemy.

Jimmy Carter was president when our support to the anti-Soviet occupation began. I guess he and his administration decided it was in the best interest of the USA to support the anti-Soviet bunch rather than the Soviets.

It is the way of the world that allegiances and support for a particular country, organization, or ruler changes over time. Just because the USA supports someone or something at one time doesn't mean that it's the right thing to do in perpetuity.

We have never supported Al Quaeda.
