I am currently in 10th grade and am planning to join the marines after high school, and when I get out become a cop for the NYPD. I know that they're cutting back on cops right now but would military experience give me a better chance of getting into the academy?

Yes, but first things first. Serve the military with honor and integrity, then worry about what comes next. Sounds like a good plan though. Just make sure you give 100% to the Marine Corps before you do anything else. |

I would never want to live in New york but they are big on military and they let you buy in their retirement plan for the time you were in the military.
They have a better retirement then the military. |

Hey man.
I am in 10th grade to, and I plan on enlisting into Army or Marine infantry.
and then afterwards plan on getting a job with a good PD or sheriffs dept.
or if i happen to get a degree while in the military, which i know is hard, Maybe I will apply to a federal agency.
but high school, to military, to law enforcement works great from what i have heard.
maybe I will see you in 2 years.lol |

It would only give you experience if you had a job in the Marines that might be an equivalent to police work. Such as security. |
