Sounds like she doesn't want to hang out and wait while your riding the waves, or deep sea currents for three months at a time. Think of the Air Force, stabilized on solid ground for longer periods of time, fewer and shorter deployments with the same pay, benefits and education opportunities. An E-1 or O-1 gets paid the same, no matter what service you are in. My son is in the Navy and wanted to be for years and is hating life, Daughter is in the Air Force working on a commission and is loving life. Same pay and benefits just depends how much poo each of the services make you eat to get it.

If you can't commit yourself 100 % don't do it.
You will be miserable for your whole tour.
Sit down and look at your options and then decide what is best for you and you only, women will come and go in your life the Military is a daily commitment like Marriage. Some times it works some times not so much.
Think long and hard of what you want.

You obviously have maturity issues. The military is not chasing you, quite the opposite. Your GF seems a bit controlling, and it seems as though her issue is that she will not longer have that control should you join. Do it for your self, not her.

The Answer

Well first you got to let your balls drop and be a man.

When you make a commitment like this there is no turning back untill you do your term and go home with a Honorable Discharge, as for your girlfriend, dont let some 2 week weekend love stop you from living a dream, if you want to do it then discuss it with your girlfriend.

For the record the military does not reconize girlfriends or boyfriends, only husbands and wives, so if you 2 been together a long time talk about marriage and what you want, if not do not waste your time or the government, cause we need real people that want to do this for themselves as well as their country.

well think about it. i was in the same problem before i join the USMC i just put lots of though into it and said its for my good. and talked to my gf if she really loves me she would respect my decision and dream and she did. good luck in the USN

If you're crying about a girlfriend, then just.... stay out of the Navy. You won't be able to commit 100% to the Navy with nonsense like that on your mind 24/7.

Don't give up the chance of a career that you want, because of your girlfriend. If she loves you, she will want you to do whatever you want as a career. If she is the right person for you, then your relationship will continue. If she is asking you to make a choice between her, or the Navy, then she is not the right person for you. Relationships come and go throughout life, but jobs that people enjoy are much harder to find. Don't worry, you will find another girlfriend, if this one does not suport your ambitions!

My husband joined the Navy while we were still boyfriend and girlfriend. Although I hated him having to leave, I am so glad he did it. The distance is extremely hard, but if you two really love one another, then you should be able to get through it. She is going to have to be very supportive and understand that this will be an awesome thing for you. It will also be helpful if you two plan to stay together for quite some time. My husband wrote letters and called as much as he could. It's hard, but you get through it. If you aren't sure this is what you want, don't do it. If you think it would be helpful and beneficial to you, then join. Good luck.
