Joining the Marines.Graduated High School?

There is a slight problem here.

I graduated and I got a High School Diploma and a GED.
The problem is a graduated in a Adult School.

The Recruiter asked me if the High School Diploma is small or big (literally).What did he mean with that?

I still don't have my diploma with me since I still have to go pick it up.(Picking it up Monday for sure)

Is there two type of diplomas? Will it affect me since I graduated in a Adult School?

He is probably trying to clarify if you have a true high school diploma or if you have an equivalent, which is basically another name for GED. A lot of programs call their certification a high school diploma and it's not. Usually a real high school diploma from a school teens attend is big, like a college degree, but the equivalents are usually small.

If it's an equivalent, you can expect to be Tier 2. This will put you behind high school graduates. You will need to score a 50 on the ASVAB and only 5% of GED/Equivalent candidates are accepted.

The Marines have no shortage of volunteers due to every little boy wanting to be like classic movies. This is why they don't bother with incentives. They can afford to be picky.

My suggest is to go to community college, finish a year and get enough credits to get accepted for sure. You may even like college and want to continue, unless you need the money NOW.

don't worry about it man. they are one of the few military branches that takes people willing to serve there country either with or without a high school diploma. airforce on the other hand you NEED to have a high school diploma.
