Joining the military, and what job to choose?

Ok I get flak from some of my friend that went into combat arms. They are like "you'll just be a pog". When I think about it, it doesn't make sense. Of course you want people that can fight, but if you have someone that is good at something else...wouldn't it be better to utilize that skill? Would you send a doctor, or computer engineer into the front lines as a job or would you rather recruit him in that position he'd serve the best in? Seems like a waste of talent/mind. Opinions?

I'm not speaking on recruiters, I'm speaking on veterans already in the service. If someone is in a combat arms role, they give you sh*t...or come up with names like "P.O.G".

they dont send computer technicians to the front lines.
U take the asvab test and it tells u what job u can be. If u score good enough they will train u to be a computer technician if u want to, or radar man, or anything, theres hundreds of oppurtunities.
Ecspecialy in the air force, only 2% of the air force fly, the other 98% do tons of mechanical and computer stuff. |

People on here can give you advice on what to be. Give us some information on what you like to do. Computer guys go to the field when they need to, but are with computers not on the front lines. Infantry are high skilled and train very hard. Not just anyone can go fight. They specialize in fighting the way a computer guys specializes in computers. |
