A 99 is a perfect score. There is no 100. A 99 is as high as it goes. I've been in the military 14 years and I've only known 1 person to score a 99. |

Your ASVAB (AFQT) number is not a score.
It is a percentage.
With a 99, that would mean you scored higher than 99% of the volunteer test takers, when they designed the test.
So the 99th percentile, is the highest you can have.
But getting a 99 on the ASVAB, doesn't mean you qualify for every job.
Since the asvab only uses 4 of the 9 sub test , to calculate your ASVAB (AFQT) percentile. |

Perfect! ... my brother got one... I took it and got an 88. Anything above an 80 is really good but it's scored out of 99 points so you got everything correct. Excellent!
Be very careful about what the recruiters tell you. Remember that it's their job to get you enlisted. They don't give a crap if you got the job you actually wanted. Nor do they actually know what every job in the military actually does. Do your research very carefully before deciding and signing away your choices. |

Since the ASVAB score is a percentile, it is as good as you can get. |

99th percentile means that of the population that has taken the ASVAB this year your score was in the top 1%.
The ASVAB is a test about thinking skills and reasoning rather than facts and information. |

Good enough to get you any MOS in the military.
My son took his junior year and got a 99 they said he can get anything he wants. He took college instead. |

Depends on whether that is the overall or the GT score. If it is overall then it's all right. GT is the only one that matters though it needs to be over 110 to get the harder to get jobs in the military, like SF and such. |

Go brag somewhere else clown. No one cares you got a 99, pre-boot. |

It's the best you can get so it's pretty damn good. I got a 95 on it...and then didn't join. |

it's the highest score you can get. it means you scored higher than 99% of everyone else who has taken it.
so yeah, Brag a little. |

99 is an awesome overall score, be proud cause not very many people can say they scored in the 99 percentile. and the retard that said he would be in pilot school a few posts up is a d-bag cause it takes more tests to be an officer, and even more texts then that to be a pilot, and you have to have a degree in the first place. AWESOME JOB. BRAVO ZULU!!!!! |

Ok...I plan on becoming a fighter pilot (that means top 5% of any academic challenge I face with the military) and lets just say that if I scored a 99 on the ASVAB, I would be in pilot training right now. Of course there is the physical side to it as well, but nice job. |

this is damn near impossible, seriously. i heard that they invesitgate people who score this high. but yeah you can definely get that job but honestly if you scored that high there are bigger and better things out there for you in the world. but good luck with whatever you choose |

Intel is a good job in the military, particularly Air Intel. If you become a good Air Intel image analyst, you can count on getting an Intel job after your discharge. Another good Intel job is being a foreign language specialist. Good luck. |

The Truth

Good enough that, were it true, you would understand how transparently self-admiring asking such a question appears. I believe that an individual intelligent enough to score that high would not require the amour propre sought after by fishing for anonymous congratulations. Alternatively, someone unfamiliar with high cognitive achievement would better fit the profile of an ego desperate for their mind to be validated. Prior to this moment, I have revealed my own score of 99 to only two individuals: first, my parents; last, my girlfriend. I've had neither the need, in terms of my professional career, nor the desire, in terms of my social life, to share my performance; it's far from being my crowning intellectual triumph.
Those capable of understanding will do so; those incapable, won't. |

I scored a 99 and it isn't hard. It doesn't measure intelligence, anyways. Anybody that doesn't get a practice guide before they take the ASVAB should probably not join the military.
I can't believe people let others make life choices for them. |

I scored a 99 on the ASVAB in June 2002 at Ft. Hamilton in Brooklyn. I didn't medically qualify for the military but have a long line of military on my father's side. He was in both the army & navy and had a tactical mind like I do. I knew I did well on the exam but was surprised to have scored a 99 on it. |
