Know anything about dogs in base housing?

My husband is in basic training at Ft. Jackson SC and we have a rottweiler. When we get stationed, are we going to even be able to keep our dog? Are there breed restrictions? What types of pets are allowed on base in base housing?

Dogs have to be register with MPs and Housing. Get in contact with Base Housing as soon as you get order. They walk you though it.

Best bet is to contact the housing office at your new base. Most bases allow 2 pets; pets being cats/dogs. I haven't been to a base yet that bans Rotties but there might be some out there.

I live on base and have 2 dogs. Dogs are allowed in base housing. You may only have 2 pets and no more unless you get special permission. Some bases do have restrictions on certain breeds, which you should find out from the housing office before your transfer onto the base. And if that base does restrict your breed of dog than you may want to consider living off the base. also the size of the dogs do not matter

contact base housing. i've heard of some restrictions on certain breeds with some housing. some of them need a psych eval. for an exception. but contact them before you move anywhere. my husband is AF and we are allowed to have up to three pets and have them registered with the vet on base and wildlife. you should just wait to see where he's going to be stationed and then call the place.

each base will have its own regs about what breeds are permitted on base and what housing allows pets. you will NOT be able to bring a Rott outside of CONUS at all.

they will not take the dog into consideration when offering you a home.. so they can offer you a unit where dogs are not allowed.
