I know that in texas for air force basic training in JUNE it has to get hott as hell, so i've heard that once it reaches a certain temp that you can't do PT outside? Im kind of bummed to hear that because i don't want to have all this down time, or cleaning all the time because we can't go outside. SO, is this really true? and if it is, how hot does it have to get before we can't do PT and stuff outside. ANDDD what do we do instead once the temps reach above the limit? Just stand around, clean, or what? Thanks.

It's true all right. It's called a Black Flag day. Usually above 100, but it depends on how humid it is too.. It's up to the commander to decide.
Usually you end up doing worse stuff inside... doing a field day on the barracks, or sitting through some sort of class, etc. |

PT is at 4:30 AM, you will still be doing physical things. I was in Basic during June/July also, when it gets to where there is a black flag, you will be very happy that you don't have to be outside. You will be having classes about military history and protocol during the hottest hours of the day. Also, you will be going to the shooting range during that time. At least we did. The confidence course we did in the morning before it got too hot. Good luck and enjoy. |

Yeah...you do look forward to the flags. But I went in August which is much warmer than June, so don't expect it to occur very much if at all. You never just sit around. You will be doing something, it just won't be outdoors. |

In the Marine Corps, black flag warnings are a BLESSING, because you can't run for miles and do that rediculous PT.
In the Air Force, I guess the PT is pretty soft and would leave you hungry for more. I understand how you feel about it. |
