You can if you want, but trust me, you won't have any choice but to wake when they wake you up. And you won't have any problems - they won't let you sleep in! |

Good plan; and hit the deck running. |

Yes, this will re-set your internal clock. Don't make the mistake of thinking you won't still be tired, though.
Basic&fatigue=go together |

yes and also start running, a lot!!! do a bunch of sit ups, push ups, and other cardio work outs.
you will need it...... |

yeah you could... my friend didnt. she said its hard for the first week but then it becomes easy.. i would do it like 3 weeks before you head off. good luck!! |

I think that's a good idea too. They will work you to death so if you start now (waking up early, lots of running and some push up practice) you give yourself a head start. Basic is a crash coarse in physical fitness and teamwork. They will shock your body and you will have to work harder then you ever have before. Yeah, if you prepare now you'll me more on your game while your there, which could be very good for your military career. Don't push yourself though, like still get 8 hrs of rest. You'll need your strength. |

enjoy "now"..wake up early then |
|

Ask me anything
 |
Get up at 4: 00 A.M.
stretch, warm up exercises, 50-push ups, 50 sit ups, run 2 miles in under 15 minutes.
Do this 6X a week until you leave for Basic Training!
YOU can do it ! hooah!
Also in bed no later than 10P.M. |

I wouldnt worry about gettign up early.. that willbe taken care of for you.. after the first couple days you will most likely start waking up on your own just before the lights get tuirned on.. just enjoy the time you have left before you go you will miss a lot of things you et to currently do now |

Good plan, but I thought you had to get up at 3am. I have 4 family members who are marines and that's what I heard from them. |

Better sleep now! |

It will be easier on you if you do, but have no fear, you will only over sleep once in basic. If you can sleep through an open barracks of 50 women moving about then you are a better woman than me. The morning is the prettiest time of day any way in my opinion. |

You never get used to it. |

It might not hurt. What you really need to do is situps, pushups, and practice running at least two miles before you go. Basic training will be a lot easier if you give yourself this little head start. |

You won't have a problem getting up in the morning. Trust me! They will wake you up. Run your *** off !!! |

Not to worry, you will be motivated by a nice gentleman or lady to get up early once you are there. Get all the sleep you can now, you will be missing it shortly.
By the way, thanks for joining and serving our country |

You can if you want, but theres really no point to getting used to it.... Once those Drill Sergeants start waking you up in the morning by yelling in everyones ears, you will be up in no time... It will be the best alarm clock you will ever have....
You will eventually start waking up long before they come in to wake you up.. Your body will get used to that... |
|

To be honest, you really don't have to, because trust me when I say your Drill Sergeants will take care of that. But if you want to be a step ahead, I recommend it the week before you leave. |

Heck no..let it come as a shock...trust me you'll be tortured enough once you get there.... |

Naw, they have pretty good alarm clocks at basic training dont worry. |

No, they will get you up. Don't worry about it, it will all happen at once. |

You better practice waking up early now.... better yesterday than tomorrow!!! |

I wouldn't worry about the getting up early part, that you never really get used to. You some how find it in you to stay awake and do what is necessary. The hardest part for me was push ups. It is common form of punishment. You will grow to hate the words "front leaning rest postion, MOVE" I recommend doing push ups and 2 minute drills. Get into the push up (front leaning rest) and time how long you can stay there, working up to two minutes. Check with your recruiter or online what your pt standard is going to be for the pt test and train toward that. Also start training on your common tasks, if you know those already you will have time when everybody else is studying to rest, clean, polish, whatever you need to do to keep you one step ahead. Many soldiers find religion at basic since it is the only time Drill Sargeants can't mess with you. Good luck.

Enjoy sleeping in now. They will get you up when they want so dont worry about over sleeping. It will get easier as you go on with it. Good luck and God Bless |

Really, 1 week out you need to be enjoying your time with loved ones and just doing what you like to do. Getting yourself on an early sleep schedule just because won't do much good because between your ship date and arrival and Basic there will be about a week of reception, not to mention time difference. You will get all the practice you need at getting up quick and early.
The thing that will help you the most now is getting in good shape and studying your general orders and basic Army (if you're Army) knowledge.
Enjoy your time now, you will earn it later. |

oH MY LOVE! Get used of lack of sleep. It won't affect you as much if you start waking up at that time and running 4-6 miles. Plus it will help you with your running time in BCT!
Practice Pushups and situps too. You will be getting up at the @$$ crack of dawn, and through out the many hours of the night.
If you need anymorehelp PLEASE feel free to email me.
I went to Ft. Leonardwood Aug of '04. So feel free to ask. I wish I'da had some one to tell me and prepare me before I went. I didnt have a clue what things were like. And I was terrified of everything!
Good Luck Hoooah!!! |

start off slow. first week, get up 1/2 hour early. (You have 6 weeks). Next week, get up 1 hour early. Increase the time until you reach 4:00 am and have no problems.
Me, I partied every night until I left. So I slept in until I was in basic. |

Just keep in good shape as nothing can prepare you for basic training. |

I say you better soak up sleeping in while you can! A good suggestion would be to try and get to sleep a bit earlier then your used to. That might help you start getting up earlier if you want to get your day going. Like a few others said...you have no choice to get up or not. Every morning is so fast that you don't even have time to wish you could just hit the snooze. Soak up sleeping in.....trust me! |

Be honest with you. I would start now. The other thing you may want to do is be up dressed and ready in PT outfit, in 15 min that includes making your bed. This may sound strange but it will be helpfull. If not already doing it learn to run.. |
