I read your other question about your girlfriend and her recruiting issues.

Maybe if you feel this way you should go into the recruiting office where the Marines in question work. Go up to them and tell them what you think, then make sure you push them while doing it.

You should do that, since your such a badass.

Athough I am in the Army dont base your thoughts of all Marines based on a few individuals. They have a long and outstanding history of courage, honor, and respect. It is not fair to them or any servicemember.

I sent your question on to a friend of mine who graduated from the Naval Academy in 1963 and fought in Vietnam and my son in law who also fought in Korea, Their replies should prove to be interesting as will many be from former and active Marines.

I'm sorry but was that a question. Where have you been where you saw them "doing nothing" you know what you better thank God and Marines that you live in a country where you can have an opinion and state it, no matter how ignorant and inaccurate it is.

You are probably correct. Marine recruiters are professional and are trained to be polite and courteous when dealing with the public, regardless of how obnoxious or provoking that public becomes. They're not perfect, but they are pretty good at it.

Presuming you are simply concerned for your girlfriend, I would suggest that you help her by suggesting that she read the contract carefully and perhaps even speak to recruiters from other services as well. Additionally, you probably know some Veterans, who will be willing to tell both the good and the bad about being in the service. (The kid down the block that got kicked out for doing drugs and cannot hold a job is probably not the best person to start with.)

With regards to promises made by recruiters, remember that if it isn't in writing, it won't be honored, no matter what anyone says. (It actually tells you that in the enlistment contract.)

The military is not for everyone, and each service has advantages (and disadvantages) as well. The promise of a position at the Pentagon is probably not the best reason to join. (I avoided the place, as it has a reputation for burning folks out. Long hours, tedious work, too much rigmarole and high cost of living.)

u know the marines help a lot in the military. i was in the army.
when i was in basic i saw a unit of marines, they were awesome!!!! they did everything in unison. they were strong. there basic is grueling. u need to have some respect for these people.
they give there life's to save individuals like ur self, unfortunate. they also have Friends and family to give there life for. i for one am glad they are here. i know what they sacrifice, i have been on the other side.
yes there are bad apples in the marines, but so is there every where else. weather it white, black, Hispanic, even boy scouts and girl scouts. if i were u id watch my mouth, and hope no one knows who u r in ur town.

If it wasn't for the Marines, Army, Navy and Air Force, you wouldn't have the freedom to say this type of stuff.
