List US military units in order of toughness?
|
Additional Details i'm talking about who do you think is toughest, and in what order:
e.g., Navy SEALs, SF Delta, USMC Force Recon, Army Rangers, USAF combat controllers, Army snipers, Marine snipers, Pathfinders, Airborne/Air Assault, starting with the toughest, how do you think they should be listed? It's just an opinion thing, not an actual fact question. stop taking yourselves so seriously.

I am with mabe on this one.
There is no way to measure "toughness"
all the military are part of a team, one cannot exist, survive function or fight without the other. |

How would anyone know unless they have been through training for all branches? |
|

Nate
 |
they're all tied for 1st!
are you asking units as in brigades and regiments? or vehicles and aircraft etc..? |
|

Michael R
 |
Do you want units or branches of military? There are WAY too many units in all of the services to be able to list them in order of toughness. As for an order of toughness, they are all trained to kill, that puts them all as #1 in my book. |

I think that the question is a bit tough to answer. I think that the several branches have SF dudes that have their own turf (so to speak) I mean SEAL's are good for covert missions and such. I hear that the Rangers are the best for a direct mano-a-mano match between hostile forces. PJ's are there to save other SF dudes butts when they get stuck. So I say that they are all tied for first with different qualifications. |

Any all-volunteer State Defense Force. They are the upaid, underappreciated souls who will be called in the case of state/national/regional disasters. |

Asked by and answered so far by someone who doesnt know the functions of eachof the units.
As far as toughness goes...I personally think its asking more courage from a cook or a truck driver that hasnt recieved the combat training that STILL GOES OUT INTO HARMS WAY knowing they might not be as well trained as others but still endures to get their mission done.
Thats tough?
And all the people that are quick to say marines forget about a large group of Army soldiers that can fight on any terrain, can gather equip and train any fighting force wherever they are.
Or the army's paratroopers that are ready to jump out of perfectly good aircraft drop behind enemy lines fight and win over an air strip and are ready to go at it again.
Or the Air force para rescue.
Its not as simple a question as someone makes it sound, as if it were whos stronger Superman or the Hulk?
Its asked by someone who doesnt truly respect ALL of our soldiers.
giving credit to even the support units who are dying by the hundreds
So instead of trying to find out whos the better...
Why not respect every man or women that puts themself in harms way for their family, for their comrades, for their country.
ANd its easy to be tough when youre well trained.
Its more of an effort when youre not as well trained.
I think the asker should really reevaluate what his definition is about tough. Becuase it seems childish to me
stick to the comic books kid |

Well in present it is a tough call, but in American history...
probably: 442 Regimental Combat Team - Most decorated unit of WW2
MACVSOG- Most decorated unit of the Vietnam war
"If you want to understand today you must search the past" look them up if you don't know much about them, their history's are very interesting |

There can be no comparison and I have no real answer, but I put the USMC on top. Only my opinion. I know that ALL of them give their best, fight, suffer, bleed and die in the same way. Bless their hearts, and may they ALL return home SOON, ALIVE, and in one piece. |

Special Forces in any branch are going to be TOUGH, but we've probably heard the most about the SEALS. I would say "regular" branches it would be:
Marines
Army
Navy
Coast Guard
Air Force |

What a stupid question.
ETA: Why the heII does everyone always put the USAF last??? They have just as hard of jobs and risk their lives just as much as any other branch. They have to go through rigorous physical, mental, and emotional training. They get big guns and big trucks. They fly bombers and fighters and helicopters. Pararescue is right up there with Navy SEALS and Green Berets. |

physical toughness:
marines
army
navy
coast guard
airforce
the marines and the army are the first ones in and the last ones out...but i think the entire life of any service member is tough, regardless of branch. |

MABE is wrong your question is not stupid.
Its like this:
The Marines go in and clear a path.
The Navy Sea Bees Pave the path
The Army Infantry walks the path
The Air Force flies over the path
The Coast Guard watch the ath from a distance. |
