I know after basic and tech school I am going to live in dorms. I know they are not all the same. I was wondering if anyone can give me a little insight on what they are like. Any random stories you would like to tell are also welcome. Thanks!

A lot of the dorms are being replaced all over the place with what most people call quads. They are really nice set ups where 4 people share a kitchen and common area, and all have their own bedroom, bathroom and walk in closet. The ones I have seen are WAAAAAYYYYY better than the crap hole I lived in during my dorm rat years. You will have tons of fun in the dorms, between the parties and the mass quantities of ladies you will slay.....you will love it for a short while, then hate it with a passion and want to move off. If you are lucky like most of my troops you will get to move off in a matter of 6 months of living in the dorms |

The 2nd poster is right about the quads. Alot of the traditional 2 rooms are being replaced. The new quads are supposed to be 4 rooms joined by 1 huge living room, bathroom, and kitchen.
The traditional 2 rooms are shared by a small kitchen and bathroom. I believe all the tech schools are adopting the quads first then they will start redoing the dorms at the other bases.

it depends on the base. while my husband was in the dorms for basic he said they were decent size but thats because you shared a room with 2 different people, and shared the bathroom with 6.
but where we are now, (my husband doesnt live in the dorms now obviously) the dorms are VERY very small. there is enough room for a bed and small entertainment center.
so it just depends on what base you are on. |

It will vary immensely depending on what base you're at.
