I know my friend was in Kentucky/Ft. Knox at least at the end of March/beginning of April. He's from the Army National Guard in CA. What's he doing out in Kentucky? Anyone know? Basic training or something? I'm just trying to figure out when he'll be done b/c some friends are trying to plan a camping trip and we don't know how to contact him to see when he'll be back he just shipped out and didn't give us much info at all.

If it is annual training, it is usually 2 weeks, but it can vary.
If his National Guard unit has been activated, it should be at least 6 months, up to 2 years. Depending upon type of unit and why they were activated.
If he is there for 19D/19K OSUT then expect him to be gone 4 months plus a week or so each for in and out processing.
Your best way to contact him is by snail mail. He may not be able to receive phone calls or emails, depending upon the type of training. To get his address, you have several options:
- contact his National Guard unit in CA and ask for his mailing address.
- contact the Fort Knox Visitor Center and/or Post Operations and ask, if he is in basic, they will be able to give it to you, but it isn't their regular job, so be very polite and nice.
- contact his parents
- send a letter to his current mailing address and expect it to be forwarded
- contact his recruiter if he joined recently.
Without knowing if he just joined, and is in OSUT, or if he he is there with his National Guard unit, that is the best I can do. Sorry. |

If he just recently joined, it is likely that he is currently attending basic combat training located at Fort Knox, KY. If he is within the Armor (Tank) branch, he would definitely be there for training. You can find/locate him via the Fort Knox website, if he is indeed there.
