MEPS Physical - What about stitches?

I've been cleared to physical at MEPS. Now I just remembered that I once had stitches in my back where they removed a mole. It was never asked on the form I submitted but should I call and bring it up? I don't think I'm lying or anything but I don't want to delay the process.

If it was only a mole, dont bring it up. If it was something like a surgery for something not cosmetic related, you should bring it up. The military will not get you on fraudulent enlistment for a mole. They will get you for lying about more serious surgeries or cronic medical conditions. Dont bring up a mole removal. Tell your recruiter in confidence. He hears dumb and not so dumb questions every day. He will probably tell you the same thing. Also, he treats MEPS like his enemy. He will tell you "MEPS only job is to find any reason they can to not let you enlist."

You will be given another form at MEPS. There is a place to enter information on past medical procedures. Enter it on the form. When asked, tell them what happened. They may ask why the mole was removed and if it was tested to determine if it was Melonoma.

lol I don't think that would matter. Its purely cosmetic. Though I guess you could ask to be sure...

You can call your recruiter. If it was just a mole and not something more it will be fine. They will see in your physical that it is just a small scar. If you do not have time to tell the recruiter (like you are going tomorrow), tell them at MEPS because they will see the scar and ask.

If you ask yourself a few questions first about any previous history you'll be set.
1.Did you go to the hospital for it? If yes proceed to 2
2.Was this a serious problem to your vital health? " "
3. Does said problem give you troubles today?" "
4. Do you feel you'll have problems with vigorous activity in training because of said problem?
That should help. Don't worry about it.

No you shouldn't bring it up. Not only do they not care about that because it't serious enough, but also because if it was serious but you don't think it would effect you then you shouldnt tell em'

Hope this helps,

Staff Sergeant Wentworth
