What are the Chances are of being in the same platoon as my Uncle
I am thinking about joining the Marine Corp, But if i was to do infantry can I chose to be in the same Platoon with my uncle? My Uncle is already in the Marine Corp right now he is in Afghanistan. So right after boot camp and mos school can i pick to be with him or no and what is the Percent Chance for that will happen?

Your orders as to where to serve come from HQ, and you have practically no influence over their decision. Sure you can make the request, but their needs will have a much higher priority. Furthermore, the military don’t like family members serving together, especially in the same platoon. There are several reasons why they don’t like this situation, but one of the reasons is because if the platoon get hit hard, your family could lose two relatives instead of one.
Dennis, I served as a Marine during the Persian Gulf War. I received an Honorable Discharge and had a good tour. But the political climate is very different now. I have but just one bit of advice for you: Don’t Join! |

Please make sure you research what you are asking to do because going by what you have asked here, you obviously don't know much about the USMC.
Your question is so silly that I wont even bother answering it. The USMC isn't some weekend camping club where you can pick and choose where to go and who to be with and all that crap.

No, and sorry becaus i am a veteran...Colonel and they will tell u where u will go and what battalion and platoon u will be in, but it depends what rank ur uncle is....lets say he isnt an officer like me and he is a Sargeant and u are a private first class then chances are u wont be in the same platoon....and there is no time for talking to eachother and boot camp..its hard as hell! |
