I have always wondered about Marine Force Recon and STA Scout/Sniper operators. Are they allowed to purchase their own weaponry, if so is there some sort of restriction like on country of origin, ammunition type, age, etc

It goes by state laws bro. As a STA Marine in Hawaii we couldn't purchase much of anything simply due to the state law. During deployments we purchased a lot of our own ammo but it's very much against the rules. As a Recon Marine and STA Marine I can tell you it's all about the state/country you're in. Yes, I do have my own M40A2 as well as the Army issue M24 Sniper rifles. All the restrictions on country of origin, ammo type, age, etc are the same for us as they are for the rest of the population. |

I'm a Marine myself, and worked with Force Recon in Iraq. I've seen them only carry Military issue weapons, nothing custom. |
