Marine reserves and college?

I want to join the Marine reserves and go to college once i return home. Can i use the GI bill to pay for college?
Also i heard that if you join a NROTC program you can be made undeployable? I dont mind being deployed, just want to know more about how this works.

You'd be eligible for the select reserve gi bill, unless you're a vet and qualify for the 9/11 gi bill. With the select reserve gi bill you'd get about 329 or so a month for school, its not a lot for guys just out of bootcamp. However, theres talk about bumping up the benefits. If you want a commission i'd check out the plc and occ programs too. They probably would be a little more convenient than nrotc. If you have orders for a training course (ie plc or occ 6/10 week courses) and before you leave your unit is called up you have the choice to deploy with them or to stay home and go to your previously arranged training. If you are in nrotc it probably works along the same lines, not sure about nrotc though. Who knows, but plc or occ would be an easier choice if you're already enlisted.
