Marines Drill Instructors PT?

They train on their own together.

If they synchronized their training with the recruits it would make it look like their on their level.

I cant believe your even asking this, of course the PTI's don't train with the recruits their fitness levels are much higher.

They run with them on runs and swear at them/encourage them, thats basically it.

Drill Instructors are divided into two categories - The ones "on the street" (currently training a platoon of recruits, lasts about two years total), and the ones "on quota" (currently serving in one of many support functions... receiving barracks, medical rehab platoon, close combat instructor, swim tank, etc...).

Those on the streets work 18-hour days with no days off. It is extremely difficult to get any personal physical training in, outside of what the Drill Instructors do with their recruits. We definitely earn our extra $375/month special duty pay.

Watch hours (work hours) for quota "Hats" (what Drill Instructors call each other) vary. It can be as light as 96 hours a week (four days on, three days off) for a while, so they are able to get out and PT alot more.

When it was time to go on quota, I was assigned to Close Combat. It was only 10-hour days, with actual weekends off, so there was plenty of time to PT plus get in the dojo and work on getting up to black belt in MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program), plus become an MAI (Martial Arts Instructor).

So, long story short, it depends. Oh yeah, while on quota, the Commander of Instructional Training Company would take us on formation runs (4 or 5 miles or so) about twice a week. And crossfit became pretty popular right around when I left the Drill Field.

my guess is they most likely do both. they probably have mandatory pt once in a while and they probably do some on their own. regardless ehy have to do enough to pass their pt tests. lol

Drill Instructors need to stay in shape. No recruit would respect or fear any DI if they couldn't do as many pull ups, crunches, or run faster than them. They have to lead the platoon during PT and not fall behind. I've actually seen a DI grab a recruit who was on the ground by his blouse with one hand, pick him off the ground and into the air, and release him. The recruit probably weighed 150-170 pounds.

They PT with the recruits but they also have unit PT with other DI's and often they PT on their own time... a lot of what they do is PT even if it doesn't seem like it... That's what my friend from MOS School told me, he's at DI School

Depends on the DI. Just as many Marines, Soldiers, Airmen, etc.. can and do PT on their own time

They PT all the time because they don't do much PT with recruits at all.

I think they are Marines, and therefore useless. WHo cares how much they PT
