Marines vs The Army help please?

me and my friend are really having a tough time trying to figure out
if the marines or navy will lead us to a better life.
but we also want to fight for out country more then anything
most of the people i talked to have said marines are the best and they are the tip of the spear and i want to be the tip of the spear
most say the army are just backups for the marines
but i want to ask people who are in the service to tell me what are the best things about both army and marines
1. Education
2. Training
3. Active duty
4. Deployment
5. what it takes to be in ether marines or army
i talked to both a army and marine recruiter
but of course they are bias to both so i want to here the truth

Marines are a smaller outfit.
Army is the largest branch of our Military. Therefore they have a wider selection of jobs to chose from.
But the real difference is simple.
Different Uniforms
Different missions
Same Flag.

Just listen...
Each branch has a mission to do according to the DoD. This means each branch has a different role to play, therefore no branch can be better then the other. Each branch is the best at what it does.
You need to figure out what you want from the military. Then you can choose the branch that best fits your needs.
Stop listening to biased people and do not listen to those who say "join this branch because...."..If you figure out what you want, then the branch you should enlist in will be crystal clear. |

Each branch has their missions...
Each do support each other... BUt I have never been "back up" for the Marines, Navy, or Air Force.
You decide what you want... Listen to what each recruiter has to offer |

I haven't and I'm not planning of ever being in either... And it is great that you two young men or women are choosing that path, as a mother, I would feel very proud if my little boys grew up to be like you!
Thank you!:) <3 It brings tears to my eyes as a mom to answer this question!
BTW about the question... both are great in my opinion, it's not about being the tip of the spear it's about helping out in ways that you can and helping your country! My grandfather was in the marines in WW2 and he was very proud of his accomplishments. Good Luck! |

Those that say the Army are backups for the Marines are ignorant as he**. The army fights as hard and brave as any Marine and has their own battle history to be proud of. Contrary to popular belief the marines are not always the first ones in and they sure are not the last ones out. There are plenty of Army units and divisions that get the call first and must be ready to go anywhere in the world in as little as 48 hours. Some include airborne units, Rangers, the 10th Mountain division, etc. The Army offers a better education and overall training. That is why many Marines reenlist in the Army after their time is up in the Marines.
I will say that the Marines are better disciplined than your average solider but, you cannot go wrong by picking the Army. |

I know that marine boot camp is harder and more strict than the Army, and that you have a few more options with deployment with the marines, the army is more lenient on who they allow to join. I personally prefer the marines but you need to check out both of their websites, go over any material that the recruiters gave you and decide which is the best fit for you regardless of what you're friend decides. |

1. Both servies get the same ammount for the G.I. Bill. Though in the Army you may get a bonus here or there but its not guaranteed.
2. Marines are more highly trained then the Army. The Marines focus highly on marksmanship.
3. Active duty is Active duty.
4. Mst MOS's in the Marine Corps deploys for 6-7 months but more frequently then the Army. The Army has deployments that can last a year and a half!
5. You have to want to be a Marine. You have to want to be part of that brotherhood, until the day you graduate bootcamp you are not a Marine. Whereas the Army refers to you as Privates the day you get to Basic training. |

Marines is the best. Training is better. |

The Marines are deployed a lot more so if you want to start a family the Army would be better. However, the Marines go through more intence training. The Army has more education oportunities than the Marines |

I work with both, installing equipment on military bases.
I personally feel that the Marines are way too hard core, and they think they are so special they can be unkind to civilians and get away with it, but they are sure there when it comes time for them to get an award. I think they are pompous.
The Army? They train you too, they educate you too, which is a good thing, because your spelling needs some work, but anyway, they are a much better group of guys, much more real. I feel the marines are isolated from real life and that Army guys are much more real.
Chicks dig marines though.
But they dig male strippers too, and most of them are gay. |
