Okay little background, I'm joining the Navy in November in the SECF(Submarine Electronics Computer Field). That might change depending if CTN opens up at all. Currently I am in DEPs and have a what if question. What if I get a traffic violation/ticket during the 6 months between now and boot camp? Is it likely to affect anything or get my disqualify me? I don't drink so I'm not worried about DUIs or the such but traffic tickets seem pretty common to me even though my record right now is clear.
Also I've already had one waiver for LASIK eye surgery, will this effect anything in this situation?

Thanks for all the answers. My mind was telling me it wasn't a big deal but it still had me worried. I drive for about 2 hours a day due to the commute to work and driving during work.

Pay for your ticket before you ship out. I don't know about the Navy, but here in the Army, we let soldiers go through Basic Training and pay for their tickets when they graduate, We call the LE Agency who issued the ticket and let them know that the soldiers are in Basic Training and 9 times out of 10 the LE Agency cancels the ticket. The other 1/10th of the time they just put a hold on it so that you don't get a warrant as long as you promise to pay your fine. |

You'll tell them about it, get it taken care of no harm no foul..they can't take back a waiver if that's what you're asking. |

As long as you inform your recruiter, and pay the fines and do the court thing if required, its not going to disqualify you. Now if you get something any more serious than a traffic violation you are risking losing a possible security clearance in the future, so just keep your ducks in a row. |

No, something like a traffic ticket is not gonna matter
Unless you were doing 105 in a 50 zone. |

I honestly don't think the Navy would kick you out. My friend is in Army D.E.P. and he's had like 4 parking tickets. So you will be alright, but try to avoid getting a ticket. |

I was really worried about that too in DEP. Honestly the military runs on waivers. just as long as your a good guy and you dont do anything that is over the line you'll be fine. as far as affecting ur chances of getting a certain job. depends who else is applying. Needs of the Navy get used to that phrase. Military is freakin awsome though |
