Military Hazing, Should this be allowed?

First off having spent time in the Marine Corps infantry I can say there is a use of certain type of "hazing" I see absolutely no training value in walking on your hands and knees through garbage. Sometimes I would "haze" my Marines by keeping them up for hours maybe days on end. Make them PT till they threw up. Many other things that have pertinent training value. The problem with the young NCO's and Junior Marines now a day they think just because they got hazed they can do whatever. We have guidelines that are so constrictive now because of the abuse of power over the years. With that said certain types of hazing are good, builds teamwork, camaraderie, and discipline. My take on hazing is if you haven't been through it and done it and understand why it's done, then you don't know what your talking about and keep your mouth shut.

Let me ask you a question, do you really want a bunch of cry babies in charge of defending the country? That's basically what you're asking by taking away any punishment/ training based hazing from the military, though if you want to be technical it already isn't allowed.
If someone cant handle being hazed a little bit, they probably shouldn't be in the military.
This isn't a humanity service or the peace corps, this is the force that goes and fights wars.
Please miss, leave your liberal ideals to yourself.

Hazing is Just Bulling the usa started its life by being a Bully when brothers and sisters wanted to leave the Union the North KILLED them

In my opinion Hazing is done by the most Unintelligent arrogant so called Human Beings On the planet

and i am Glad i was in a position to ensure people Never Suffered like i did with cruel hazing because My skin is Black

it is my opinion psychical Hazing should Carry a minimum of 5 years in Prison

do you realise Adolf Hitler was a Bully Mugabe POl Pot Idi Amin Adolf Eichmann Heinrick Himmler Stalin Eisenhower were all Bullies and used their positions to get there Own way

Real Inteligent people don't need Hazing to form strong team Bonds I was an IED operator and there is a team with the strongest bond without Hazing

well, everybody knows it takes place..like joining a fraternity. I would say if you dont want to go through the initiation process..dont sign up.

The Hazing now for becoming a Shellback is nothing compared to what it was before. Plus there is the opting out option as well.

Why should it be gotten rid of? It is a tradition, it doesn't kill you, many people while they complain about it have fun in the end.

If you don't want to do it, then you won't be forced to. You won't get your shell-back certificate, but that's your decision.

Forcing someone to become a shellback is not allowed. Everyone in the ceremony are doing so voluntarily. Thus, since you are volunteering it's not hazing. Also, you can walk out anytime but you won't be shell certified.
