lol r u a pvt?

Technically you are a veteran after you are discharged from the military. However, reservists are in a grey area because technically they can be considered vets if they have been activated for over 180 days and receive an honorable discharge from active duty. What this means is that a reservists who has been activated would then be eligible for veterans benefits or receive vet points for state or federal jobs, even if they were still drilling reservists. Active duty generally refers to serving full time 24/7 for over 180 days. Reservists can be activated for federal duty. Veterans also have 3 different statuses for some benefits or job points: combat veteran, simply veteran and also disabled veteran.

vetâ‹…erâ‹…an
   /ˈvɛtərən, ˈvɛtrən/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [vet-er-uhn, ve-truhn] Show IPA
–noun
1. a person who has had long service or experience in an occupation, office, or the like: a veteran of the police force; a veteran of many sports competitions.
2. a person who has served in a military force, esp. one who has fought in a war: a Vietnam veteran.
–adjective
3. (of soldiers) having had service or experience in warfare: veteran troops.
4. experienced through long service or practice; having served for a long period: a veteran member of Congress.
5. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of veterans.

pretty much if you have served during war time you are considered a veteran, you do not have to be discharged to be considered a veteran. I have been admitted to the VFW and i am still in the active service

Active duty is when you are considered full service, reserves when they get deployed are active. When you go into the military for 4 yrs active(day to day military life) you are active.

Active Duty is FULL TIME
RESERVES is PART TIME
AGR (Active Guard Reserve) is FULL TIME

you are a veteran when you complete your contract and you get off off the army

A TERM is in most cases however long your contract is, but if you sign a long contract like 8 years and up. your term at a duty station could be 1 to 4 years

You are considered a veteran once you go to a war or have completed your service at the time of war. Active duty means Full service.

active duty is when you are either in the reserves or fighting and veteran is when you are done with your duty and they can not call you back...

one is considered a veteran after going to enemy territory around twice. And active duty is when your currently at war. And it's not full time you come back for about 4 months and train some more.
