Military jet flew over my house...?

So you heard the jet before you saw it? That doesn't follow with anything I know about military jets or the speed of sound.

The best advice I can give would be to check out this link: http://www.airforce.com/baselocator.php?or=afh Is your home located within a few hundred miles of any of these bases? The military may not be able to acknowledge certain exercises for security reasons. If there are no bases nearby then it could have been a number of things. This is also how the UFO stories of the 1950's came about. :-)

Could also be doing some sort of border patrol as an exercise.

In most countries the military has the right to fly wherever it wants, and does not and should not disclose the movements of military aircraft.

More then likely a training exersize that your or our military doesent have to take credit for. Im in the aviation department in the Navy we do alot of practicing and alot of low level flying, and more then likely only military jets have that capability, or underground ops like blackwater and such that the military hires to do all the dirty work.

To tell you the truth It's also been happening beside my house, I live close to the border of Washington. Im not sure what we can do or ask to figure out whats going on. But I do agree with you they're very loud.

I've been in your position lots of times before. Unfortunately, even if the military isn't testing any new type of jet, and it turns out to be a stealth bomber (stealth to radar, not sound), the likely hood of them saying anything or giving any details out are slim to none. Especially after 9/11, they'll just say "we don't know" or "no comment".

The sound that you probably mistook as a bomb dropping or exploding was most likely a sonic boom. Which is pretty deafening in it's own right. It makes this sound, because they are going so fast, that they've broken the sound barrier. It's actually pretty damn cool to see, if you're close enough, as it makes this giant bubble type of cloud.

Go to YouTube and search for "sonic boom".

If this happens again.. run inside and get a camera or video camera, and record it. This way, the next time they claim "we have no idea what you're talking about" you can post it onto You Tube and get someone there to tell you instead. ;)

I use to live in Rochester New York near Niagara Falls. That would happen every so often there too. They are just doing routine border patrol. It's a good thing.

The military constantly has training exercises going on.
I read there is a training exercise going on this week, and maybe longer in Washington & Oregon and 2 other states in the central part of the country.

It is supposed to be like a simulated war, and the Canadian military may be holding joint exercises at the same time.

However, it is illegal to buzz { low level high speed run } a populated area and a formal complaint can be filed at the close-est military base. But you need the type of aircraft and exact time it happened to file the report.

If a pilot is found guilty of a low level buzz he could be repremanded, especially if any windows were broken or other damage done.

If the plane crashes into your house, don't worry because in a split second the house would not be there.

Just about EVERY day there are jets that fly over where I live. The other day I was sitting at home and heard two VERY loud booms. I called the sheriff because it was so loud and they said it was from the jets. Sometimes they even fly late at night, like around 10 or 11. All the time. There is an atomic plant about 10 miles down the road. I don't know if that is why they fly here so often or not.

US Air Force planes fly over the country, whether mission or training.

These are classified and confidential and most likely wont be acknowledeged of.

I wouldn't worry about it. If there was an attack of some sort, you'd know about it by now. Chances are the air force was doing a flyby while training. Every so often I see similar flybys

Well if you live in Canada it would be illegal for a US jet to fly there and vise versa. Its most likely a military jet and they dont want to tell anyone. They do it all the time.

Penticton BC

2 F-15's took off from the Penticton airport. The noise is what got my attention first. One headed north east and the other headed south towards Osoyoos.

These were US aircraft that landed at a Canadian civilian airstrip. They arn't allowed to cross the border. What is going on?

I just got off the phone with The National Defence Authority at NORAD it seem that Canada has just attack the US and the Democrats have surrendered.

Can I get a pix of the aircraft?

This has been going on over Salmo, BC aswell, US military planes flying in Canadian air space,with the cloud cover to disgiss themselves of coarse. Are we not a sovereign nation? Why are these planes in Canadian air space?
