Military reserves and civilian work?

I might have a job lined up for me as a police cadet that would transfer over to being a police officer. I would like to do my part though and be in the military. I am considering joining the reserves. Will this effect my civilian work as a cop?

a civilian employer can not fault you for being in the military. They need to provide you time off to perform your military duties. this is covered in the soldiers and sailor act. you might also be eligible for 10 extra points on your civil serve exam.

The reserves won't mess with a job as a cop. There are lots of cops in my unit. It doesn't matter when you go to bootcamp. If you get the job they can't fire you because you're going to bootcamp.

my suggestion would be to join the reserves first due to taking time to do basic training your new job wouldnt like you being gone for months after basic and your advanced indiviual training then join for the police and let them know you are in the military and you have to report one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer and if you like police work mabye try goin for army infantry most law enforcement like using army infantry so that is my suggestion
