We are both in the military AND deployed at the same time! He just got back from Iraq 3weeks again (I am still in Asia) and he seems different.
*Lacks attention on the phone or via skype
*Takes our "phone time" for granted (occupies himself with is friends kid, playstation 3, his friends arguments in the background etc)
*Is drinking heavily and even mixing the alcohol with cough syrup
*walks around his friend's house (who is married) with barely any clothes on while the husband isn't there
*spends irresponsibly and is a show off
im not trying to nag but this is NOT like him. I feel like i dont know him anymore. i've told him about it but all he seems to say is "sorry", shrugs it off and switches subjects. please help. only serious responses please. thanks :-)

There's only so much you can do. There has to be an effort on both persons part to get through problems you know? In my opinion I think the most you can do is pray for him and try to be there in the best way possible. Especially since you can only speak on the phone. Just let him know that you care and that you're there for him. That's all you can really do at this point. Hope this helps a little bit :) |

Get him to a shrink the V.A. can help he is different he's been through hell. War is no picnic you see things you can't imagine. You keep wondering when am I going to get picked off and all of a sudden your buddy beside you is dead. |

You have no idea of how he feels right now. In fact, you never will.
I say that because he may never be able to talk about any of it. Yet he can never forget...There is an altogether different world on the front lines.And unless your were there, you will not understand at all.
My bro was in Vietnam and to this day, he still cannot talk about it and he changed also....He's OK. Just not the same old Mike...
You will just have to be there. Or, it may separate the two of you..
