My brother is going to Iraq?
Find answers to your legal question.

My brother is going to Iraq?

he is my brother in law by marriage but ether way I love him to pieces and are having a lot of trouble coming to terms with the deployment order. I read a lot of books about the military, the stories I read are haunting and it makes me fear the worst for him. He has a 1.5 year old son at home and a wife, It keeps me awake at night, picturing him in a body bag. Plus I won't be around to say goodbye to him which tears my heart out. Im not sure what to do, or what to say to him, did anyone else feel like this, or is currently in the same situation?

For the first answer I do love him only as a brother, and I am only fearful because he is our first deployed family member (the media does nothing to help -_-) We all are very encourageing these are only the fears that roll around inside my head when I have time to think.

My Marine husband has been deployed 7 times and is currently deployed for 13 months to Iraq. If I sat around and thought like you, I would be insane. I agree with the poster above me (Basebreak)....his family needs support and love, not for you to sit there and cry about body bags. Saying goodbye at a farewell ceremony is usually for direct family, so don't cry how you can't be there and do not overwhelm him and his wife with your grief. He will be home one day, and all will be well. But you need to calm down, and realize that all will be ok. You are being a tad irrational.

What the guy above me stated. I'm joining the USMC and I hate it when my parents/friends worry about my safety. I'd rather have them encourage me and wish me the best of luck. The only thing I fear more than death is having to think of my parents/friends crying for me and all the emotional stress thats going threw them.

Save the crying for when he comes home.

Whoa....calm down. Sounds like you love him more than a brother.

Iraq has stabilized considerably. I am not denying that danger and violence still exists, but it is considerably safer than it was. You need to stop fearing the worst. Not to sound morbid, but you have a better chance of dying in a car crash, than him dying in combat. You need to stop thinking like this......what him and his family needs is love and support..........not insane, irrational fear from your end.

Aren't they all supposed to be back from Iraq next year (according to obama´s declaration)? So why are they sending him still?
It's so sad :(
He shouldn't go... I mean, what have Iraqis done to him? or to you? Or to his son? It's like Vietnam II... Can't you talk him out of this?
