maybe he was punished under UCMJ and they are not paying him for something he did wrong. |

No, your pay will not be taken, by Congress or anyone else. Funding for the war effort and funding for salaries are separate issues. Congress will get its act together and get this Iraq "supplemental" bill passed somehow...or, if not, the things that won't be funded will be supply chain oriented, not wage oriented. Not to worry. |

No worries, we will still be paid. And SHOULD there come a problem, every link in the chain of command will have heard from me, all the way to George himself. SOMEone will pay us.
So dont worry, its not going to happen. Take care of yourself. |

That is a ridiculous lie/misunderstanding.
He will be paid unless he did something to lose his pay.
Read his contract and show him if he doesnt believe you. |

Something isn't right. You must be talking about the budget. Even if the budget doesn't get passed, the Military will continue to get paid. |

I assume your husband works for the government in some capacity, or is in the military. DO NOT WORRY. The current face-off between Bush and Congress over having a timetable for withdrawal in the war funding bill will be resolved by then--and the Congressional leaders have made it clear they are not going to push this so far it ccauses hardship for the troops. Your husband's paycheck is safe.
I suspect he's become concerned after hearing some of the scare tactics put out by some peopleon the fringes. But that's all it is--whether the particular wackos are on the "con" or "lib" side--that kind of rumour-mongering is wrong. And untrue. Whoever told your husband that should be ashamed of themselves. |

I live in an area surrounded by five military installations, and have many friends involved in the military. I haven't heard them say anything about that - and they WOULD mention that one for sure! - so I think that might just be a rumour. |

It is being discussed that if the money that was cut from the war budget is not restored, there is a possibility that it could come out of military paychecks, the link that afwife does explain it although i think she could have done without the smart *** comment herself |

If thats the case, your husband may be the stupidest man in history. |

I was in a during a budget war in the eighties. When they did not pass a budget immediately we (Armed forces and Gov't) still were paid. |

Actually, I read a story about this on Military.com. Apparently, the writer was referring to Democrats intending to cut military funding. |

I think what your husband might mean is that taxes are so high that it's like you're not getting paid for an entire month. At least, I hope that's what it means.
People pay so much in federal income tax that it usually takes several months of working before the money you're earning is the money you get to keep.
But no - you'll be paying the same amount in taxes this year, some of which will go to the war effort. I'm not sure what your husband was thinking, but he's wrong. |
