Yes, it would be a different world: a different Europe, with different allies.
American needed to enter the war in order to stop the tyranny. It is chilling to think of a world in which Hitler almost succeeded.
Philip Roth wrote the novel "The Plot Against America" about just such a scenario.
It is told by the author as a 7 year old, post WW II.
Simply frightening to think of the possibility.
Hurray for the USA!
Edit: What ingratitude some of these answers show to the US. Do you remember the A-Bomb, the airplanes, sturdy bombers made by the US citizens, Dunkirk, D-Day, the Marshall Plan? America's blood is mingled with the blood of other countries' blood. Don't dishonor their memory. It took a joint effort from all England's allies to help win this war. History still stands, though. The US participation helped to win this bloody, bloody war.
Don't re-write history. There are still enough of us to remember it as it was. |

False. There wouldn't be any Britain anymore if the Germans won the war, so there wouldn't be any British. And without the USA the war wouldn't have been won by the Allies. |

The US took advantage of WWII to ensconce it's strategic position in the world. The US may have tipped the scales toward an allied victory, but the German's had already bitten off more than they could chew by the time the US stepped into the war. US casualties are dwarfed by European casualties.
While victory cannot be entirely attributed to the US entry into the war, a German victory would have given the German imperialists an upper hand. Because they lost, the US gained a strategic advantage that exists through today. Today, US imperialism in the Middle East allows corporations to ship Iraqi oil to refineries in California.
Because the Germans lost, many people find the most important second language to be English. I'm sure the most important second language for most people would be German, if the Germans had won. |

Without Lend Lease they might have been permanently been screwed, yes. Would they be speaking German? Probably only when necessary in order to speak with their Teutonic overlords but this wouldn't have lasted for long as no significant nation would indulge a foreign occupation indefinitely. Yes, it may have significantly increased their vocabulary if we had not helped them to defeat the Hun. |

That's speculation, but it is likely that Germany could have invaded England if it had not been for the involvement of the United States. Germany was well on it's way to invading the whole of Europe when the U.S. stepped in to stop them. But what would have actually happened can never be known for sure, just be thankful that the allied forces were there to put a stop to Hitler's regime! |

Anything could happen if we lost. Heaven, the US would be speaking German if that was the case. I think Britain would be just occupied by Germany not altering the universal language so
False. |

False. The German's would have finished their heavy water program and used it to annihilate England. There wouldn't have been anyone left to learn German. |

Perhaps that would be true. I think it would be true, the United States was a huge help in World War II. One of the problems that the Germans had was that they lacked oil supply. Germans went to North Africa to get oil. At the time British had control of Egypt. The United States landed in West Africa and traveled east while the British traveled west and we sorrounded the Germans from both sizes. Because of this the Germans lost a ton of oil. Without the Americans the mission could of never happened. |

but there would be a lot fewer brits to speak it
so there is a good chance that any particular one of them wouldn't be speaking anything |

US involvement, or US support? If US never got physically involved, no. If US never gave support, yes.
Russians were at Germany's doorstep with little stopping them by the time US even set foot in Europe. |

False.
Despite a popular misconception that the Yanks actually won the war, their impact was not as great as they would like everyone to believe. In fact they haven't won a single war themselves to this date. They are too proud to admit it though.
Battle of Britain ensured the air superiority of Luftwaffe was dented.
The Russians did the rest from the East 22 June 1941 to May 1945. British and French resistance kept the pressure from the western europe thoughout the WW2.
By the time the Yanks got into western europe in late 1944/45 the german army has suffered heavy losses and would have lost the war anyway. The Russians, British and the French would have made sure of that.
The truth is, and correct way of putting it would be this - I think we'd all be speaking Russian instead of German if the US chose not to get involved. May I also remind you that Germany was divided into East and West by the end of WW2?? If the Yanks really won the war, and made such a tremendous impact as they seem to claim, then why did half of Eastern europe was under communist rule for decades??
Couldn't care less if you lot vote me negative neither. Some of us are not brainwashed neither we are blind. Yanks still believe to this day that the animosity for their culture stems from the dislike of the western democracy!! What a pile of S**T. If their country stopped trying to police the world and altered their foreign policy, and cared more about the national security within their own borders, then all of us would be more likely to live in peace.
When Russia decided to ship a few nukes into Cuba it became 'The Cuban Missle Crisis'. When the Yanks announced the plans to deploy their missle defence shield into Eastern Europe within 100 miles of Russian borders, they got offended when Russians got pi**ed off. Wow I wonder what putting a missle silos into Eastern Europe got anything to do with protecting themselves from Iran, considering the fact that Russians have offered and did not object the defence shield being deployed in one of their former southern republics, which is geographically closer to Iran anyway!! And for those idiots who seem to point out that the installations are designed for defensive measures - PROVE IT!! Nobody is going to pump billions into something which does not have an offensive capability at the same time.
The Yanks are quite happy to spend trillions on new military hardware whilst 80% of US citizens cannot even afford proper healthcare. And passing a child healthcare bill was a HUGE NO NO....wait...they need more nuclear submarines right??
So we ally ourselves with bunch of madmen and losers and go trying to preach democracy to these so called 3rd world countries, when our own British prime minister (aka Gordon 'slackjaw' Brown) is not even a democratically elected prime minister!! No wonder we are the laughin stock of the planet. |

Not really, none of the other occupied countries were forced to speak German.
However if the US had given (or sold) us the aid we asked for at the beginning of the war, it would have been over a lot quicker, so when they begin to bray about how they saved the world, remind them they could have saved it a lot sooner. |
