Yes he can with parental consent. Most likely he will not ship until he finishes school.
If he joins the reserves or the national guard I believe they will allow him to ship to basic training the summer between his junior and senior year. Then he will go to Advanced Individual Training the summer after his high school graduation. |

He can enlist at 17 as long as he has the written permission from both you and his legal father. He will then be in the DEP program until he graduates from school and then will ship to boot camp. The job he chooses will be selected based on there being a seat available both in boot camp and his follow on school for that time period following his high school graduation. He can be in DEP up to one full year to get this accomplished. |

Talk to the recruiters for the up-to-date info. Please suggest to your son that he look at ALL the services. Although Army and Army National Guard and Marines are really hot for recruits, the Coast Guard, Navy, and Air Force feature more technical training.
Coast Guard is extremely important these days because they guard our shores against drugs and terrorists and help those in serious danger of sinking. |

yes he can enlist in august...he just wont ship til he's done with school. his recruiter will just need proof that he does have enough credits to graduate on time, or a GED

Yes he can enlist but if i believe correctly you have to sign the paper aswell because he is not adult yet
My mom had to sign for me when i was 17 so i could go to the marine corp.
If you both sign then he will enter the DEP program which is very valuble to a young soldier he will meet with other kids and recruiters so they can teach as much as they can before they go off to Boot Camp as well as some of physical aspects of going to the army |

If he has your permission he may enlist at 17 but he won't ship out for boot until after graduation. They will have monthly meetings for all the young people like him where they will do physical training and learn about the service. This makes boot much easier for them. Tell your son how proud you are of him and give him a big thank you from one grateful American. |

With your consent he most certainly can. He will sign papers, go through the medical procedures, and can even go to basic training. The army reserves offers a special program for kids still in high school that want to enlist called split ops. It allows them to complete their training during the summer between school years. 6 months later if he wants to active he can. Have him talk to a recruiter and go with him. They will tell you every thing you need to know. |

yes, with your signature. he will remain in DEP until he finishes High School. this is the only way he'd be able to stay in DEP longer than the normal 12 months. |

yeah of course, in the military it is called the DEP, aka the delayed entry program, after a bit of paper work your signature and permission he will go to a hotel for the night process the next moring and will be done and home in time for supper. they will make sure to give him a shipout date after his graduation date. the military will RARLEY accept someone with a GED,but let him know he needs to make sure that is what he wants to do |

I believe so. Not sure if the Army still has the Split Option program but that is what I did. I joined the Army at 17 went to bootcamp in the summer between my junior and senior year. I came back and finished high school then went to my job training. |

Tell him to Complete His High School and get
his Diploma...then enlist if he still wants to !!!!
It also shows the Military that he can Complete
something he starts...
A GED is for quitters looking for an easy way out !!!!
He can then also continue his Colledge education
after his Deployments instead of hanging out in the Strip Joints...and Bars !!!!
That is what I did in the Marines after two tours...
Ended up with an Associates Degree...EE |

Yes, he is still enlisting while high school until his graduation, then he will transport to the base. That military wants him go back and get a diploma if the military learns he is good in school. |
