My son told the army that he has asthma, he is on a do not ship, but they will not let him come home, why?

he is still in the processing stage, has not went to basic training. He wants to come home now, but is told that there is a long process. How can I get my son home quicker, he has been in processing for over two weeks.

You can't... He should have told them before he shipped to Basic. Now they have all this paperwork to do... It could take the lenght of Basic before he is sent home. |

Why didn't "your son" tell anyone before he shipped to BT...he could have let his recruiter know when he was asked, he could have let MEPs know when he was asked.
Now after he gets to boot, decides he does not like it..and wants to come home figures if he tells them now, they will just give him a plane ride home...and it looks like mom wants that to.
Well it does not happen quick..and he has wasted ourcountry'ss
money, a slot someone else could have been in, by not being up front

They may put him through a medical board to see if he is fit to stay in the army. A med board is the process in which a set of doctors examine your son for health issues and take into consideration the stress these conditions would cause and if he is even capable of serving. If they think there is a remote chance he can serve, they will put him on a profile( which can be do not run, or jump, march etc) Not all medical problems get you out of an enlistment. Medical boards sometimes take years, but since he has not gone through basic training yet they may just send him home. |

because the military doesn't work that way. once you enlist, it doesn't matter if you can ship or not. you are still enlisted and until you go to a medical board and receive a medical discharge you will be where the military tells you to be or you will be AWOL. it depends on how severe his asthma is as to whether they will even put him out. it sounds like to me he jsut decided he doesn't want to be in the army and is wanting an excuse to get out. i doubt it will work that way though. i'm sorry. |

When your son entered the military he traded a lot of his freedom to do that. He's in a big complicated bureaucracy now and just needs to go with the flow.
If you have friends in the military ask them if they know anything. |

i just got back from an intense combat deployment in afghanistan i had severe knee pain most of the deployment but pushed on because my boy got his legs taken in an ied when i got home i fell playing with my nephew and went to the ER a few weeks later got an mri and I tore my ACL and miniscus one of my sergeants said they might medically retire me I like the corps but what percent would I get for knee anyone know |
