Does anyone have a clear answer on the NG's WOFT program? By reading the black and white, it states that you enter BMT, Woc's, then Flight School. Is this true? I am recieving different answers from everyone that I have spoken with. Does this program even exist, or do you have to enlist first? Any suggestions?

Short answer is yes that is true, but this is not the Air Force. You would do BCT and not BMT because it is Army.
With that said, those are the major training steps you will do to get to flight school, but the process to actually get that far is far longer and has a lot more red tape. You cannot simply walk in and say I am going to be a WOC and go to flight school, sign me up.
To be a "street to seat" as they are known (people with no prior service and wanting to go to flight school), you must pass the AFAST, Flight Phyiscal (Class 1A), and an aviation board. The flight physical alone will weed out about 75% of the people applying as the requirements to be an Army aviator are pretty strict.
The AFAST wipes out a lot more because you can only take it ONCE in your lifetime. If you fail it the first time, you have to wait 6 months for a retake, but after that, no more chances. |
