Navy And Job Openings?

I went through meps monday and tuesday of this week, when i went to my navy Liason however you spell it, they told me the jobs had been taken for the day. I scored very well on the test, and physcial part well no problem, how long is it going to take to get a job. Has anyone went through this?

How long is a good question. It depends on the needs of the navy and the job you want. Jobs come available at different times. it all depends on when there is a vacancy and who gets to it first. remember you are competing with every other would-be recruit across the country. It also has to do with the date you wish to leave for boot camp. The Navy Fiscal year (the budget year) begins in October. So if you are trying to ship before then you are left with the 2008 quotas, which are running out. If you are trying to leave in or after october you will be looking at the 2009 quotas, which mean more options. Not sure if they have been released yet, but that's the basics. My suggestion would be to ask your recruiter what jobs you could get if you left after october. you MIGHT get some better choices.

Right now, many jobs in any military branch is less and less. No matter how great of a score you get, if the job is not open, you wont get it.
My best choice is to pick another job and then change your mos when it is time.

I went through the same thing last week. Its a waiting game, im trying air force security forces...only thing that seems to be open besides the army.
