I'll echo what the good Lieutenant says, and say definitely the Coast Guard. We are the most selective branch, regardless of what anyone else might think.
I notice that Gunny mentioned the Corps is the smallest in numbers. While I have the utmost respect for the Corps, his math is off. Unless the Corps has been trimmed down to 42,000 total Active Duty, then we're still the smallest. If you do not affiliate with the Coast Guard, the only other Service I could highly recommend is the Corps. Dedicated, committed, professional, and a sense of esprit de corps that is rarely equaled. Still, I prefer the Coast Guard based on missions.
Whatever you do, just be sure to make your choice based on what best fits for you. The opinions you get here are just that. . . opinions. While the Coast Guard has been great for me over the past 30+ years, allowing me to go from E-1 to W-4 to O-4, that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be a good fit for you. Check your career desires against the capabilities, missions, and philosophies of all the Services.
Good luck in whichever branch you sign on with. |

I have nothing but respect for our sister services. Army, USMC, USAF and USN do some amazing things.
However, the US Coast Guard was interesting to me because our branch of the military has Federal Law Enforcement as one of it's missions. Also we do boardings, NCW and Port Security in Iraq, heck some coasties have even been embedded with army.
We're a small highly selective branch. Because of our LE authority we are the only military branch not in the DoD. Being small and not in Dept of Defense does present interesting challenges and has some advantages.
Be in fighting to save on our coasts or fighting in Iraq, we're always there.

First off, Navy has the better jets if you want to fly. if flying aint your thing i would go Army. they guarantee you your job, provided you scored high enough on your ASVAB, and the promotions come faster. |

First of all font join the airforce. navy, coast guard.... join either marines or army.
In the marines failure is not an option, you always think of new
ways to improvise adapt and overcome and you will be victorious.
The marines are trained much harder mentaly and phisically, and
every marine is a rifleman. The marines are much smaller in
numbers so they always have to think of ways to overcome the
situation. And they use there outstanding training to do this.
The army on the other hand is not as diciplend and has a verry
diferent mindset they also do not have the training that the
marines have. examples of the marines great sucess are Battles of
Incheon, vietnam, the chosin Reservoir, iwo jima, guato canal,
iraq, kuwait, al qaeda. But when it comes down to it its really
just different uniforms, different missions but were all fighting
for the same flag
