Navy Seals training??

I know a SWCC/SEAL recruiter who's training his kid for SEAL. The kid's about 12 or 13. He swims a 500, runs a 500, does 100 push-ups, 50 sit-ups, and 20 pull-ups. Then he does it again. With the transition I think it takes less than half an hour. But his dad knows that his son's getting into and can prepare him for it. It's stuff you can't get from a book. Those who tell you can "prepare" by reading a book or attending a camp, either have never been there, or they're trying to sell books or programs.

For now , nothing besides eat right ( veggies, salads, stay away from junk food )

Play different sports and keep active.

Once you get to 16 years old

You can start training more

IE: Running, Pushups, situps, pull ups, weight lifting, swimming.

You can do those now, but other than running, don't do the others very much.

Wait untill your a couple years older, before you start any kind of serious program.

Plus, do well in school, take math and science class's.

First off, Navy SEALs dude, But before you go to BUD/s you should be able to do 100 push ups in 2 minutes, 100 sit ups in 2 minutes, and be able to to 20 dead hang pull ups, and run a 14:00 for 2 miles. If you can do these you will have a 85% chance of completing BUD/s, the rest is all mental so can help you there.

In a nutshell you should find out now if you are prepared for a military life. I am an officer in the USNSCC. That is the United States Navy Sea Cadet Corps. We take kids 10-14 for the Navy League Cadets(USNLCC) and 13-17 for the Sea Cadets. It is much like being in the Navy Reserves, but of course more fun as it is a youth program. Two of my kids are in it, and my 13 year old is attending SEAL Orientation August 1st. This is by no means the same training you would receive at BUDS, but it gives you a heads up. Cadets wear official US Navy uniforms with appropriate Sea Cadet flashes on the shoulders and can even train on Navy and Coast Guard ships. Two weeks from now we are going to a 3 day small arms training and will be shooting rifles (M4's and others)and possibly earning marksmanship ribbons if we shoot well enough. There is a local Sea Cadet Unit near you. Look at www. seacadets.org and find out for yourself.

To answer your question, I went to, but didnt make it through Diver School. You need to run every day starting now. You need to do push ups and sit ups every day starting now. And this was my ultimate problem, you need to do overhand pull ups every day starting now. The pull ups were what got me. For my physical test, I could only do the minimum. I got in but it wasnt good enough. Of course you have to do well in school. SEALs are an elite force and what good is strength and stamina without smarts. Study hard and prepare. Just a "heads up." If gugliamo's who I think he is, you'd be wise to heed him. I believe he was one of the originals. My thumbs up goes to him.

I think that if he ever had a "camp" or wrote a book, I'd buy it in spite of his warning to the contrary.
