ok. so im in the delayed entry for the navy. my rating is ctt(cryptology tech ) so when exactly do they start the investigation for the top secret clearance? Is it in bootcamp..or when your in A school. And when will you know it was approved? Oh ans when will i be interviewed for the clearance?

I started in boot camp with the paperwork for my top secret clearance. I went to some office building on base and started filling out paperwork about myself and my family. I was there for about 6 hours. After that, you'll be quickly checked out. If everything checks out, you'll proceed to A school with an Interim Secret Clearance. An investigator will get your case and start a thorough investigation. And it takes a while. You won't hear whether or not you have your Top Secret Clearance for a year or more after you filled out the paperwork. I never got an interview. Of course, I got my Top Secret back in 1991. |

Per: my daughter in the navy, They start it in A school, If you do not pass this clearance than they give you a different job .Approval is when the tell you or you don't get kicked out of that school. you will get your interview at your first command. GOOD LUCK with everything. |

My son just went in as CTI. His background check as well as yours will begin approx. 1/2 through boot camp. They want to be sure you will make it before spending the money on you. I am unsure of what they/if at all interviewed him in boot? you will know it is approved if you get orders to "A" school. his had to be done before going to Language school. |

I went into the Army under the DEP program, which basically means I signed up in 11th grade but I didn't ship until after 12th grade was finished. My Secret clearance was done and over with before I had graduated high school, but I didn't know about this until a long time later. |
