Navy corpsman Crossroad Help!?

Ok guys i ship out this monday to go to me bootcamp in Great Lakes. I am going as a hm or corpsman as my job. I've been in DEP since September been researching tons on everything and studying up. My wife is leaving with me Jessica Greene the same date I am. I am very desperate for a position where i get to work with marines but I am also equaly concerned about being with my wife I could go a couple of months without her and its rough but damn years I dont realy know if i could stand that I am 22 and have been with her since i was 16.I have spent every single day with here instead of the night I went to a hotel for MEPS lol. Anyone have any suggestions or more info please post.

Is your wife going in as an HN as well? If so, you will be "together" through A school, however, you will probably be living separately as if you were any other two A schoolers. This will be very difficult for you both. If she is not coming in as an HN, You will be appart for most of your first 6 months to 1 year in the Navy.

Being a dual military family is difficult at best. Your relationship will have to be very strong in order to handle the stresses that come along. The detailers will work to keep you in the same "geographic area", however, this may mean one of you at San Diego, and one at Camp Pendleton, etc. It does not always mean the same base.

My best recommendation is to prepare yourselves for a lot of time apart. Also, if you are planning to have kids, WAIT at least 3 - 5 years. I know this may be hard, but it will help you figure out the difficulties of being a dual military couple before you have to figure out the parenting side of it.

Good luck and welcome aboard, to you both!
