Navy families, everyone, I need help (long sorry)?

This is kinda long so bare with me please, cause I need advice. My ex and I broke up a little over a month ago. We'd been together for almost two years, but towards the end all we did was fight. The thing is we were in a long distance relationship, him living in Colorado and me in Maryland.
Now we've been talking and both admit that we miss each other and still love each other. We're considering getting back together, but taking things slower.
The problem is, he has enlisted in the Navy since then and plans on making a career out of it. I knew this was something he wanted to do from the get-go, but he had changed his mind for me. Now I accept what he has decided to do with his life.
Getting to the point, I'm worried I'm not gonna be able to handle him being gone so much since it was a major part of why we broke up in the first place. I'm not into cheating so that's not a problem. What should I do? Its hard living without knowing we're together, but I don't know if I can spend the better part of my life waiting on him. Any advice is appreciated.

if it is something you WANT you make it work. if you are already having a problem with the time/distance thing it might not work. if you are committed to the relationship then you can make it work. and believe me it is work. the have a saying ,,,,"army/airforce/marines/navy wife,,,toughest job in the army/airforce/marines/navy" best bet is to have a long talk with him and both of you lay your cards on the table and air it all out. see if it is something you BOTH really want. |

If you are already having problems then long separations are not going to help. It gets worse when you are stationed where you don't have any family around and then he goes away too. You need to have a good foundation in a military relationship. Part of being a military spouse is knowing that when duty calls you have to let them go and be strong for the both of you. |
