I am currently in dep and contracted as a hospital corpsman. I leave august 3rd. But im having mixed feelings whether i chose the right MOS. I wanted to go Green side with the marines but i thought about it and thats not guaranteed...
My parents suggest i should do something that i cant really do anywhere else in the civilian world (because i can always go to college after the military with the GI bill or hazel wood act) like AW or something.
Any ideas on jobs?
If all fails i wont mind being a HM and i will definitely try and go green side.

If you want to go green side with the marines, that shouldn't be a problem. When you get to Corps School, let it be know what your intentions are. Currently orders are based on GPA, so study hard and you get to pick where you want to go.
Understand that active duty contracts cant have FMTB seats in their contracts.
There is plenty you can do with the experience you will receive being a HM. The best rate in the Navy.
Navy doesn't use MOS. Its called your rate.

Im a retired Hospital Corpsman, you can put in to go to the green side, not everyone wants to do that...I had orders for field medical school before my accident, i wasn't looking forward to the training after being pampered they way i was. You could check out other options but your date may change depending on when your A school starts...you may be put off several months. I liked my job, i worked in surgery most of my career, then as MPUA...That just means i mobilized medical units during war time and did during Desert Storm and other stuff i can not mention because it is classified. |

well future "shippy" i guess it all depends how you look at it and what you want its really a choice u to make for yourself
i came in as ADVANCED ELETRONICS and now im a nuke/electricians mate
and i think its the best rate if you want to advance ive been just a little over a year and im already a third class petty officer and if i re-enlist i automatically get second class petty officer, and i could be chief in at min 7-8 yrs
it all depends what you want to get out of it
see i joined to do something that would advance fast pay good money and that i COULD DO once i got out if i wanted to...
of course you also have to qualify for the jobs as you should know |
