A Navy pilot is a world class aviator and a very admirable thing to be, but a Marine pilot is a Marine. The point is you should be a Marine pilot if what you want is to be a Marine and being a pilot is secondary. If you want to be a pilot primarily join the Navy. This is not to say Navy pilots are less hard core only that if you are a Marine officer you should have your hart in the Corps and nothing else. |

Have you talked to a recruiter at all? I see your questions here & you seem wishy washy.
Talk to a recruiter & make your decission!
***I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps and it doesn't seem as if you want to be a Marine in my opinion***
In the Marine Corps and as a pilot you have to be able to make a split second decission...you don't seem capable!
What w/ worrying about other ppl's "oppinion" (as you write it).
Pick a branch & make your move. Do you plan to go to college first? |

Navy! one ever hears of the Marine pilots. Navy pilots have a rep for being the best. (I might disagree a little but that's me)
just make sure you have a degree before you join. |

To be a jet pilot in any branch of the military you need to be a Commissioned Officer. Not merely enlisted by the recruiter. In general, that means COLLEGE. Either you:
1. Are a college graduate
2. Enroll in ROTC in college.
3. Get accepted to the Naval Academy which is the Navy and Marine 4 year college.
4. Enlist in the Navy/Marines and then hope you can eventually get some college in your spare time so you can go to OCS then complete the college soon after.
There are variations but did you see the common factor? Yes, before you are given the keys to a multi-million dollar high performance aircraft you will be a college graduate.
The marine pilots almost always perform close air support missions for the warriors on the ground. Navy pilots do some of this but they also have other aircraft that perform a variety of missions.
All the real action these days is on the ground. That means Army and Marines and it usually means all-male. There are of course females in action occasionally but it they are not assigned to the units that go looking for a fight. They are in support units that only fight when being engaged at the enemy's time and choosing.
So, if you are looking for action. Get college, become a marine pilot and hope you get some close-air-support missions down in the dirt. |

I've seen air support from the Air Force, Navy, and Marine pilots. With the Air Force, there was a little speck that I could barely tell was a plane. The Navy, I could read that it was a Navy plane. Marines, I coule read the piolt's name. Whichever one of those mentalities seems to fit your personality, go for it. |

If you want to see action and a challenge then I think the Marines would be your best bet. Navy you could try to become a seal but their is not guarantee that will happen. If you want to become a pilot then you could join the Marines for 4 years get a college education, then switch to the the Navy to become a pilot because they have a much better flying program then the Marines, but the Marines need pilots to so it could be easier to become a pilot in the Marines, but I'm not sure about that. Do what you want to do and don't let anyone hold you back. |

1st, you don't just join and become a pilot. are you a college graduate? are you going to OTS? (officer training school) besides that, pilot wise, they are about equal. both are stationed at air stations and then have to spend time on a carrier. it's really who would you rather be associated w/. marines are tough...seriously tough. navy, is tough on women. i think if you were to wash out in either program, it's an admirable endeavor either way. good luck. |

The navy is a much larger team, you don't see a huge amount of action. More of a front line weapon/force, and America isn't at war.
The Marines act in smaller groups, and are much more specialized in their training. They also often do far more covert ops than the navy.
I'd go with the marines. |
