Best decision of my life. Saw the world, matured greatly, got a couple of degrees. It didn't really hit me as to how much I had accomplished until I went home on leave and saw that all the knuckle-heads I hung out with in high school were still doing the same stupid things (chasing skirts, drugs, drinking) we were doing when we were in our teens. Then you tell them that you just bought your second house, or completed your second degree, or tell about spending the night in a 500 year old castle in Rhodes Greece. When you see the look on their eyes you will see that you made a momentous, and very good decision in joining.

Well put Greatest, nicely said. In addition to what you said, I will put forth this. My job field was second technically only to the Nuke field, I was hired from the Navy starting at just into 6 digits, and now two years later I am well into the 6 digits working on linear accelerators for use in the treatment of cancer. In my opinion I'm still doing gods work, just in a different fashion instead of defneding the nation as I did for over 20 years, now I am assisting people of that nation get over a terrible disease.

There is nothing wrong with the Navy. Or any other branch for that matter. All the branches work together to get the job done. As you being prior service, you would know that. My family is all military. I, Air Force, My husband, Navy. My brother, Marine. My sister-in-law, Army. Yes, there is the making fun and jokes, but that is more out of respect of the fact we all do what we do. Without each other, things wouldn't happen the way they do.

As for asking everyone online, you can make that decision on your own. If you want to go back, more power to you. You know the deal and how to play the game.

Good Luck to you.

only ****** and sailors join the Navy

The Greatest!
As I read the answers provided, I laugh. Those anti-American clowns, those people that think it's "lame" are all losers. Nevertheless, I will educate you. The Navy offers a great deal of highly advanced technical training. There are some schools in the Navy that civilian sectors could never provide. Nuclear school is one of the most advanced schools in the entire world. After completion of nuclear school, and your contract, look forward to a rewarding career in the nuclear field. Generally; you can look to earn $180,00-200,000 annually. My uncle makes a little over $200,000 annually after taxes and such. He enlisted under the machinist mate rating for 6 years. I suggest you not consider the words of those clowns that are anti-America, anti-war and are pro-peace. Those are clowns that are kept safe because of men and women of a greater degree than themselves. If you seek glory on the field of battle, then I suggest you enlist in the Marine Core, or the U.S. Army under the 11B MOS (Infantry). If you seek to join an elite fighting force capable of engaging any enemy, on any soil, then try to get into Special Forces. Maybe a Green Beret, or Navy SEAL.

You should do it!! I was processed in the navy and was getting ready to leave for bootcamp, but i found out i was prego. I had a misscarriage and later got discharged. My fiance is in the navy... Boot camp is hard, he is away right now and he pretty much hates it. But once that is over you will be opened to alot of opportunities. You should really do it!!!

BeenThereDoneThat
It all depedns on what your want to get out of the military, and does the Navy give you the best options?

Any military branch has its pros and cons, you really have to be more specific with your question...my cousin is a Navy SEAL and loves it, my brother is stationed in Iraq as a corpsman, and says his job over there blows...What do you want to do?

It's lame. My fiance's bro is in it and he hates it. Why would you want to be away from everyone you care about for months at a time?

ka-ching bling bling
